Mido is a Swiss watch brand with a rich history of technical innovation and timeless designs. It was founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren, and the company is currently based in the town of Le Locle, nestled in the Swiss Jura mountains. The name "Mido" is derived from the Spanish phrase "Yo mido," which translates to "I measure."
Since its inception, Mido's philosophy has revolved around combining innovation, aesthetics, and functionality. The brand gained early success with its elegant women's watches and visually attractive timepieces for men. Notably, Mido focused on producing scroll-free, functional, and water-resistant watches, and in 1934, they introduced the revolutionary Multifort line.
The brand collaborated with tennis champion Björn Borg in 1981, demonstrating their passion for partnering with iconic figures. In 1996, Mido released high-tech models known as BODYGUARD and WORLDTIMER, further cementing their reputation as pioneers in the industry.
Throughout its history, Mido has been inspired by architectural wonders, drawing design elements from iconic landmarks like the Roman Coliseum and the Great Wall of China. This unique approach has led to a diverse range of collections, each reflecting a piece of history and culture in its design.
