Introducing Mido Releases a Slim and Sporty Ocean Star 39

A new collection with a beautiful dial inspired by currents moving across the sand

Mido is part of the Swatch Group and is based in Le Locle, the center of watchmaking in the Swiss Jura Mountains. While Mido watches are not as expensive as some high-end luxury brands, they provide a good level of quality at an accessible price point. One of its most popular releases is the Ocean Star collection. This year, the brand is celebrating the collection’s 80th anniversary and recently released a new and enhanced Ocean Star GMT. Now, Mido takes its celebration even further by introducing a brand new sporty yet slimmer variant with a 39 mm diameter, a first for this collection.

The watch comes in a stainless steel case, brushed and polished, with a 10.5 mm thickness. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel available in different colors depending on the variant, such as navy blue and black, gray and black, PVD gold hue, or black. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective treatment, and the screw-down crown and solid steel caseback ensure a water resistance of up to 200 meters.

The dial features a pattern reminiscent of currents moving across the sand, with a date window at 3 o'clock. It is available in navy blue and black gradient, black and gray, champagne, or black hue. The dial showcases applied markers and hands with either white or orange Super-LumiNova, depending on the variant.

The new Ocean Star 39 is powered by the Mido Caliber 72, based on the ETA A31.111. This automatic movement operates at 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 72 hours. All the variants are equipped with a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp featuring a diver extension, except for the black PVD variant, which comes with a black rubber strap and a pin buckle.

All the watches join the permanent collection and share a price of CHF 1,050, equivalent to AED 4,280. However, the black variant is slightly more expensive, coming in at CHF 1,120, which is equivalent to AED 4,570.
