A Limited Edition with an Anthracite Dial Reflecting Movement Parts
Founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, Mido is one of the most respected names in Swiss watchmaking. The brand has been part of the Swatch Group since 1980, following the Quartz crisis and its effects on the Swiss watch industry. Mido's diverse collections reflect its philosophy of combining style, performance, and innovation, with each series inspired by iconic architectural landmarks and timeless design principles. Two of the brand's most iconic collections are Ocean Star and Multifort, with the latter celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
The Multifort is one of Mido's most versatile collections, first introduced in 1934. Designed to combine modern style with Swiss movement innovation and durability, Multifort is known for its simplicity, elegance, and multi-functional design. Today, the Multifort range continues to evolve, offering a variety of timepieces suited for both professional and casual lifestyles.
Mido celebrates the 90th anniversary of the Multifort collection with the new Multifort Mechanical Limited Edition. The 44 mm round stainless steel case features satin-finished and polished surfaces, with a thickness of 12.2 mm. A sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflection treatment protects the dial, while the case back is engraved with the serial number and the inscriptions "ONE OF 999" and "JUBILEE." The watch offers 100 meters of water resistance.
The dial features an anthracite color inspired by the movement's gears and bridges, treated with Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light. The dial's glowing effect appears in blue and orange under low-light conditions. The flange around the dial displays a phosphorescent minute track, and the crown wheel at 3 o'clock and the ratchet wheel at 1 o'clock are finished with a circular snailed anthracite design. The pawl and balance spring contrast in deep matte black. The tri-faceted hour and minute hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova, and the diamond-cut small seconds hand at 6 o'clock completes the dial's design.
Visible through the sapphire crystal case back is the hand-wound mechanical movement based on the ETA 6498-1, featuring rhodium-plated, bevelled bridges with Côtes de Genève decoration and engraved Mido logos. Operating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour), the movement offers a 46-hour power reserve.
The watch is paired with a three-link satin-brushed stainless steel bracelet secured by a deployant buckle with two push buttons and equipped with lug bars for easy strap changes. The presentation box includes two additional straps: one in black synthetic fabric with white phosphorescent stitching and another in brown leather with a 'patina' effect and luminescent white stitching.
The Mido Multifort Mechanical Limited Edition is limited to 999 pieces and priced at CHF 1,590 (approximately AED 6,650).
