A grey case and pixel-textured dial give this special edition a modern twist
The Multifort TV Big Date collection stands out for its blend of classic charm and contemporary execution. Inspired by Mido’s TV-shaped watches from the 1970s, this series reimagines a familiar silhouette with modern proportions and advanced technology. Following the success of last year’s S01E01 edition, the story continues with the S01E02, a new “episode” of creativity that introduces beautiful shades of grey.
The watch features a stainless-steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter and 39.2 mm in height, with a lug-to-lug length of 46.85 mm. For the first time in this collection, Mido applies a uniform grey PVD coating, giving the case an industrial yet elegant character. The combination of satin and polished surfaces plays beautifully with the light, while the rounded “TV” shape provides both visual appeal and comfort on the wrist. The watch also includes a screw-down crown with guards, a sand-blasted dot at 12 o’clock, and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides for optimal clarity. A transparent screw-down caseback reveals the movement within, while the 100-meter water resistance ensures everyday versatility.
The dial takes center stage with a multicolour relief “pixel-noise” motif reminiscent of vintage television test screens. This intricate texture creates a sense of movement as light dances across the surface. A grey border frames the composition and hosts recessed indices filled with white Super-LumiNova, complemented by hands that glow in the dark. The big date at 12 o’clock, displayed in white on black, enhances both symmetry and legibility, while the black minute flange unifies the design.
Inside the case beats the Mido Calibre 80, based on the ETA C07.651. This automatic movement operates at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.
Mido supplies this model with a grey PVD-coated stainless-steel bracelet featuring polished center links and a folding clasp with push buttons. The package also includes two additional rubber straps in bright blue and yellow, each equipped with quick-change bars and PVD pin buckles.
