Farer was founded in 2015 by Stewart Finlayson, Jono Holt, Ben Lewin and Paul Sweetenham with the aim of creating a line of quartz watches. Prior to this, Sweetenham had worked as a watch buyer for a duty-free company while Holt, Lewin, and Finlayson ran a marketing and merchandising agency in London.
Farer's initial product line comprised of nine quartz watches. In September 2016, the brand added three automatic watches to its collection, named after British Royal Navy ships used by British explorers.
Farer released a set of GMT and Diving (Aqua Compressors) watches in 2017, followed by a set of 37mm hand-cased timepieces in 2018. In 2019, they introduced a collection of chronograph watches.
