Gerald Charles Unveils Its Most Complex Timepiece, The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar

Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

Furlan Marri is a new watch brand founded by Andrea Furlan and Hamad Al-Marri in 2021, which caused a stir in the watch world last year with their mecha-quartz-driven chronograph models. Although the brand gained recognition, some enthusiasts were hesitant about the quartz movement. However, Furlan Marri has launched a new model, the Ref. 2116-A Black Sector, which features a fully mechanical movement and a classic-styled stainless steel case.

The watch has a deep black, sector-style dial with silver or light-grey printed tracks and scales, Breguet-style numerals, leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, and a needle-like central seconds hand. The watch is powered by an automatic movement by La Joux-Perret, which is based on the manufacturer's G100 ébauche and has 24 jewels and a power reserve of 68 hours.
