Gerald Charles Unveils Its Most Complex Timepiece, The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar

Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

After the conclusion of the activities of the tenth edition of the Only Watch Auction, here are some numbers and facts about the charity auction, which witnessed many numbers worth mentioning, most notably the recording of the third most expensive watch in the world, and the Rexhep Rexhepi watch achieving a large number as it was sold for more than its average expected price for 17 times, here are the most notable numbers.

The auction collected 28,320,000 Swiss francs compared to the last edition in 2021, which collected 29,740,000 Swiss francs, with a slight difference estimated at 1,420,000 Swiss francs, which is a decrease of 4.9%.
47 watches were put up for bidding compared to 53 watches in 2021, a difference of 6 timepeices, which is a 12% decrease.

The most expensive watch: Patek Philippe Grande & Petite Sonnerie 6301A, sold for 15.7 million Swiss francs, after its average estimated price was 1.65 million Swiss francs, which is about 9 times more than its estimated price.
The Patek Philippe watch ranks third as the most expensive watch in the world, after both the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Paul Newman Ref. 6239 is in second place at a price of 17,750,973 Swiss francs, while first place goes, of course, to the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime ref. 6300A-010 which sold for 31 million Swiss francs.
