Two bold new releases that highlight Zenith’s evolving chronographs
Zenith has shaped its identity through bold engineering and a distinctive design language. The Defy family represents this ethos in its purest form, blending technical mastery with contemporary aesthetics. In 2022, the brand introduced the Chroma concept to showcase its most expressive approach to colour and mechanical performance.
Following the Defy Chroma II released in 2023, the brand now expands the Chroma collection with two new Defy Extreme references, each featuring a mix of titanium and ceramic.

The watch comes in a titanium case offered in two executions. One model uses microblasted titanium with black components, while the other pairs brushed and polished titanium with a white ceramic bezel, crown, and pusher protectors. The case measures 45mm in diameter and 15.4mm in thickness. A sapphire caseback completes the construction and confirms water resistance of 200 meters.

The dial is openworked in either black or white, acting as a stage for the El Primero movement and its coloured bridges. The indices are rhodium-plated and treated with a gradient varnish that mirrors the spectrum seen on the movement. The hands feature the same finish and are filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility. The sub-dials follow the traditional El Primero layout: chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock, chronograph seconds at 6 o’clock, and power reserve at 12 o’clock.
Powering the watch is the automatic El Primero 9004 calibre. It operates with two independent escapements: one beating at 36,000 vph (5 Hz) for timekeeping, and a second at 360,000 vph (50 Hz) dedicated to the chronograph. This configuration enables readings to 1/100th of a second, displayed by the central chronograph hand that completes a full rotation every second. The movement provides a 50-hour power reserve.
Each model is delivered with a rubber strap matching the dial tone, a titanium bracelet, and a black Velcro strap. Both versions are produced in limited editions of 100 pieces, each priced at CHF 19,900, approximately AED 91,200.
