Introducing Zenith Launches the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli

Zenith is perhaps best known for its El Primero movement, the world’s first high-frequency automatic chronograph, introduced in 1969, which has since earned the brand over 2,300 chronometry prizes. Among its collections, the Chronomaster exemplifies Zenith’s mastery of chronographs. In 2024, Zenith reintroduced one of its classics: the complete calendar chronograph in stainless steel, followed later by a rose gold edition. Now, the brand elevates this model even further with the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli.

The watch retains the compact 38mm stainless steel case introduced with the Chronomaster Original line. It features a thickness of 14mm and a lug-to-lug length of 46mm, drawing direct inspiration from the iconic A386 model of 1969. The case includes vintage pump-style pushers, tapered lugs, and a raised box-shaped sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters.

The highlight of this edition is undoubtedly its dial: a deep blue disc of natural lapis lazuli, flecked with golden pyrite inclusions that resemble a star-filled night sky. Each dial is unique due to the natural variations in the stone. The three silver-toned chronograph registers include a 60-minute counter integrated with a moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock, a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, and a 60-second chronograph counter at 3 o’clock. The day of the week is positioned at 11 o’clock, the month at 2 o’clock, and the date is subtly placed between 4 and 5 o’clock. Rhodium-plated, faceted indices and hands, coated with Super-LumiNova C1, ensure legibility in low light.

Powering the watch is the El Primero 3610, an automatic movement beating at 36,000 vph (5 Hz) with a 60-hour power reserve. It enables the chronograph hand to complete one full revolution in 10 seconds, allowing for true 1/10th of a second precision. Around the back, a sapphire crystal display caseback reveals the intricate architecture of the movement, including a blue column wheel and a brushed star-shaped rotor.

The watch comes with two strap options: a blue calfskin leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp, or a stainless steel bracelet, also with a folding clasp. It joins the permanent collection at a price of CHF 21,900, equivalent to AED 87,600.
