Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The El Primero movement meets the tourbillon complication, featuring a new dial engraved with the company logo
The origins of the name "Defy," as used by Zenith, trace back to 1902 when the brand introduced a line of sturdier and more precise pocket watches, this label was again employed to distinguish a more rugged line of timepieces and has since symbolized Zenith's forward-thinking approach to watchmaking. In 2022, Zenith presents a new chapter in this longstanding tradition of robustness and precision. This latest range of sports watches amalgamates all the characteristics of the original Defy concept with the brand's rich El Primero history, showcased in the contemporary Zenith Defy Skyline collection. Since its inception, the Zenith Defy Skyline collection has expanded to encompass various case sizes, configurations, and color schemes. Now, the company unveils two new timepieces to further enhance this esteemed collection.
The latest Defy Skyline Tourbillon models are offered in either stainless steel or elegant black ceramic, boasting a 41 mm size. They showcase a 12-sided. Adorned with vertically brushed surfaces and meticulously polished angles, highlighting the sharp lines of the case. With a screw-down crown, both models guarantee water resistance up to 100 meters. Additionally, flat sapphire crystals safeguard their dials. While the stainless steel version features a blue dial, its black ceramic counterpart boasts a matching black dial accented by rose gold hands and hour markers.
Beyond their distinct finishes, the dials on the new Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon models share a unified design and layout. They both showcase centrally-mounted hands, faceted baton-style indexes, and a prominent one-minute tourbillon displayed through a circular aperture at 6 o'clock. Similarly, both dials feature a metallic sunray pattern and are engraved with a "starry sky" motif, characterized by four-pointed stars radiating outward from the tourbillon and increasing in size towards the top of the dial.
While the hands and hour markers on the stainless steel Defy Skyline Tourbillon are rhodium-plated to complement the white metal tones of the case, the black ceramic model showcases rose gold-plated elements, creating a luxurious contrast against its dark components. Despite their differing finishes, all hands and indexes on the new Defy Skyline Tourbillon models are treated with Super-LumiNova C1 for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.

In harmony with the star motif on the dial, the tourbillon cage of the new Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon watches adopts a four-pointed star shape. It is affixed with a single mirror-polished bridge, horizontally spanning the circular opening in the dial. One of its points features a trapezoid-shaped indicator for seconds, housing the balance wheel and the hairspring and escape wheel beneath the star-shaped tourbillon cage.
Powering the new Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon watches is the brand’s El Primero 3630 automatic movement, which consists of 219 components and winds itself with a star-shaped oscillating weight. Even though this model is essentially a tourbillon-equipped version of a time-only watch, runs at a frequency of 36,000vph (5 Hz), while offering users a power reserve of approximately 60 hours.
The new Defy Skyline Tourbillon models feature an interchangeable strap/bracelet system and are offered as a set with both a bracelet and a rubber strap. In the stainless steel version, you'll find a blue rubber strap along with an H-link bracelet made from brushed and polished stainless steel. Meanwhile, the black ceramic Defy Skyline Tourbillon is accompanied by a matching black ceramic bracelet and includes an additional black rubber strap featuring a black PVD-finished folding clasp.
