Inspired by Tandberg's Technical Legacy and Design
Von Doren is a Norwegian brand founded in 2016 by Oyvind VonDoren Asbjornsen. The story of the brand began when Oyvind inherited his great-grandfather's cherished Swiss wristwatch at the age of 12. This heirloom sparked a passion for horology, and from his hometown of Ålesund, Norway, he embarked on a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of his brand, Von Doren.
The brand draws inspiration from the breathtaking nature surrounding Ålesund, a port town nestled on the west coast of Norway, known for its stunning fjords, mountains, and waterfalls. Each watch captures the essence of the town's beauty and history, infused with a sense of vintage and classic style.
In the brand's latest releases, it unveils the "Tandberg," which is offered with two different dial options. The watch takes its inspiration from the legacy of the Norwegian company Tandberg, known for its innovations in audio technology during the 1950s and 1960s, led by engineer Vebjørn Tandberg. It reflects the quality and design that defined Tandberg's philosophy, with a modern touch from Von Doren, drawing on these historical innovations.
The watch comes in an elegant rectangular stainless steel case with a brushed and glass-blasted finish (glass beads are sprayed under pressure onto the surface). It is also complemented by a polished bezel that frames a flat sapphire crystal. The watch measures 46.3 x 38 mm, with a thickness of 10.6 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 47.67 mm. The pull/push crown, designed to resemble a volume knob, is inlaid with black onyx, adding a distinctive touch of luxury.
The dial of the watch is available in either white or black, and features a red lume-coated tip on the second hand, which hovers above a blue ring around the edge of the dial that is coated with blue Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility. The dial also features a blue printed minute track, with four applied indexes marking the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.
The watch is powered by the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering a 40-hour power reserve.
It comes with a blue nylon strap with leather backing, a stainless steel pin buckle, and is priced at EUR 1,590, approximately equivalent to AED 6,350.
