Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Limited Edition Platform
Independent watchmaking thrives on passion, collaboration, and the courage to challenge conventions. This spirit is what drives the new collaboration “Reality of Time”, a creation born from the meeting of three kindred figures: Pietro Tomajer, founder of The Limited Edition, the UK-based platform dedicated to independent watchmaking; Amr Sindi, better known as The Horophile; and visionary watchmaker Vianney Halter.
This limited edition marks the 10th anniversary of The Limited Edition platform. Since its founding in 2015, The Limited Edition has been committed to celebrating independent artisans who refuse to compromise their artistic vision. Guided by Amr Sindi’s refined creative direction, Halter has reinterpreted his signature steampunk aesthetic through a darker, contemporary, and more elegant lens. The result is a timepiece that bridges two worlds: the volumes and proportions of Halter’s modern Art Deco Metropolis with the riveted details and enduring charm of his original Classic.
Engraved on the mysterious winding mass is a quote from philosopher Gaston Bachelard: “Le temps n'a qu'une réalité, celle de l'instant.” (“Time has only one reality, that of the moment.”) It encapsulates the philosophy behind this collaboration—a celebration of the present, of friendship, and of watchmaking as a profoundly human adventure.
Measuring 39mm in diameter and 8.2mm in thickness (11.85mm including the domed sapphire crystal), the Vianney Halter Classic TLE Tenth Anniversary Limited Edition is crafted from Grade 5 titanium. Its surface has been micro-blasted for a smooth matte grey finish, while a fine band of polished anglage around the rim of the bezel creates a striking contrast. Central lobes at each end of the case anchor the articulated strap attachments, accentuating the Classic’s round “porthole” concept. The flat bezel is punctuated with twelve polished 18k rose gold rivets, a design element echoed on the crown with a miniature ring of rivets.
The titanium dial, treated with a dark anthracite dip to achieve a near-black tone, features a recessed, micro-blasted central panel surrounded by a brushed outer ring with polished anglage on its stepped edge. Rose gold decals are used for the numerals, minute track, and Halter’s signature motif, while flamboyantly styled, rose gold-plated hands—reminiscent of fountain pen nibs—perfectly complement the gold-on-black aesthetic.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the caliber VH122 self-winding movement is fully on display thanks to Halter’s patented “mystery” rotor. This ingenious innovation uses a sapphire disc with a concealed peripheral weight, rendering its rotation almost invisible and leaving the movement unobstructed. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), the hand-finished movement offers a robust 56-hour power reserve.
The watch is fitted with a dark grey calfskin leather strap secured by a titanium pin buckle. This collaboration is limited to just 20 pieces, available exclusively through The Limited Edition, priced at GBP 73,623 (approx. AED 364,120 excl. VAT).
