A limited edition featuring a dial crafted from lab-grown opal
Venezianico is a young Italian brand that often pushes beyond traditional dial manufacturing techniques. Over the years, the brand has explored unconventional textures and materials, establishing a reputation for combining Italian design sensibility with solid Swiss mechanical foundations, as seen in models such as the Arsenale Sumie 墨絵, Nereide Corallo, and others.

In its latest release, the brand introduces the Nereide Opale, featuring a dial crafted from lab-grown opal. The watch is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm in diameter, with a total thickness of 12.5 mm and a lug-to-lug length of 49 mm. These proportions remain consistent with the established Nereide dive watch profile, offering a strong and confident presence on the wrist. A unidirectional rotating bezel surrounds the dial and is fitted with a polished tungsten insert. A sapphire crystal caseback provides a clear view of the movement inside, while water resistance is rated at 200 meters.

The dial is made from lab-grown opal produced by Kyocera in Japan and displays a multicolored iridescent pattern that shifts depending on the light and viewing angle. Composed of 80 percent silica and 20 percent resin, each dial exhibits subtle variations in texture and color. Applied hour markers filled with luminous material ensure strong legibility, accompanied by central hour, minute, and seconds hands, as well as a date window positioned at 3 o’clock.

Powering the watch is the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, a proven Swiss caliber known for its reliability and ease of service. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is equipped with a custom skeletonized rotor, finished with rhodium plating and radial Côtes de Genève decoration.

The watch is delivered on a stainless steel bracelet, is limited to 500 pieces, and is priced at €1,295, approximately AED 5,600.
