Introducing Venecianco Honors the Concorde with the Bucintoro 1976 Edition

A limited chronograph inspired by the cockpit, powered by the historic Lemania 1873

Venezianico pays tribute to the supersonic aircraft Concorde with a chronograph limited to just 100 pieces. This exceptional watch houses a hand-restored Lemania 1873 movement and features a titanium plate cut from one of the legendary jet’s engine blades.

Between 1976 and 2003, Concorde redefined air travel, turning the transatlantic crossing into just a few hours. Reaching speeds of Mach 2.04 (2,179 km/h) at an altitude of 17,000 meters, it flew passengers from Paris to New York in only three and a half hours.

With its futuristic design and unmatched performance, Concorde became the icon of supersonic passenger aircraft in the 20th century, and a lasting symbol of progress and collective imagination.

The Bucintoro 1976 carries this legacy within a 42 mm stainless steel 316L case with a thickness of 11.5 mm. It is topped with a domed sapphire crystal measuring 1.6 mm, coated with anti-reflective treatment to enhance legibility while lending the watch a refined vintage character.

On the side of the case sits a titanium plate engraved with the individual limited-edition number out of 100. Notably, this plate is made from an authentic piece of a Concorde engine blade—an evocative fragment of aviation history.

Through the transparent caseback, the Lemania 1873 caliber can be admired in all its restored detail. Surrounding it, the golden-finished outer ring is engraved with the names of the cities associated with the Concorde era: London, Paris, New York, and Washington. These are more than decorative inscriptions; they are coordinates that recall the transatlantic routes which reshaped our very perception of time.

The ivory-white dial, adorned with three avio-blue subdials, draws inspiration from the Concorde’s cockpit instruments and the year 1976—the date of its first supersonic passenger flight. Gold-tone indexes and hands coated with Super-LumiNova in white ensure visibility in all lighting conditions, while the central chronograph seconds hand highlights the critical role of precision in supersonic aviation.

Symbolic details abound: the inner tachymeter bezel displays the three takeoff phases (V1-VR-V2), while the minute counter includes references to Mach 1 and Mach 2, celebrating the breakthrough of the sound barrier. The hour counter, marked Fuel, pays tribute to the aircraft’s onboard gauges monitoring fuel consumption.

For the second time, Venezianico has sourced a limited number of vintage Lemania 1873 movements. After decades of silence, these calibers have been meticulously restored, preserving their original 1970s character and distinctive finishing. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a 40-hour power reserve, this caliber once powered professional aviation instruments and was even worn on the wrists of NASA personnel, embodying a legacy of precision.

The watch is completed with Venezianico’s signature Sansovino stainless steel bracelet, along with a fine Italian-made leather strap. The Venezianico Bucintoro 1976 is a limited edition of 100 pieces, priced at EUR 4,750 (approximately AED 20,450).
