Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Cases crafted from luxurious materials and dials that display time in an exceptional way
Since its founding in 2017, Vanguart has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary independent watchmaking. Built on the combined expertise of APRP veterans Axel Leuenberger and Jérémy Freléchox, visionary designer Thierry Fischer, and motorsport and finance specialist Mehmet Korutürk, the brand has carved a unique identity defined by radically modern way of interacting with time. Vanguart’s debut creation, the Black Hole Tourbillon, introduced in 2021, set the tone for the house: a floating central tourbillon, kinetic concentric discs, and a joystick-controlled setting system.
Over the years, the Black Hole has grown into a signature line that embodies Vanguart’s philosophy with increasing refinement and depth. Released on the occasion of Dubai Watch Week 2025, the brand unveils the newest evolution of this iconic collection: the "Black Hole Arabic Numerals" and the "Black Hole Rose Gold", two limited references that carry forward Vanguart’s design language while introducing fresh materiality.
The Black Hole’s case comes in a 45mm measuring diagonally with a height of 15.75mm and rendered as a seamless exoskeleton available in two distinct materials: lightweight grade 5 titanium for the Black Hole Arabic Numerals (80g) or solid 18k rose gold for the Black Hole Rose Gold (173g). The exoskeleton is microblasted with crisp polished bevels. Sapphire crystals on both sides frame the movement as part of the visual architecture. Functionality is integrated with equal refinement: two crowns on the right side support the joystick-based time setting system; the lower crown handles winding and precision bidirectional adjustment, while the upper crown provides instant hour changes for travel. Quick-release buttons on the back allow effortless strap changes, completing a case design that is both technically advanced and elegantly resolved.
The dials of the new Black Hole references embody Vanguart’s kinetic philosophy. Crafted from grade 5 titanium and finished in either anthracite PVD or silver PVD, each dial features hand-painted indications that enhance definition and depth. At the center is a levitating flying tourbillon operated by the signature three-tier concentric automaton system. These co-axial discs—dedicated respectively to the hours, the tens of minutes, and the minutes—create a semi-instantaneous, linear time display articulated along the left side of the dial. A triangular-shaped indicator at 9 o’clock provides intuitive reading, supported by Super-LumiNova for low-light clarity.
The display is animated continuously, with the minutes disc advancing in harmony with each full rotation of the one-minute tourbillon. Adjacent to the time display sits a vertical power-reserve gauge, composed of eight horizontal markers rising from “LOW” to “FULL.” Depending on the reference, the dial is completed with Arabic or Indian-style numerals, giving each model a distinct identity while preserving the collection’s avant-garde aesthetic.
At the heart of both Black Hole models lies Vanguart’s in-house, hand-wound calibre T-1701—an architectural movement composed of 775 meticulously finished components and built entirely from grade 5 titanium. The calibre features a high, centrally positioned flying tourbillon operating at 3Hz with a free-sprung balance and variable inertia, forming the mechanical core that powers the watch’s signature semi-instantaneous automaton display. The mainplate and bridges are rendered in titanium with microblasted, satin-finished, block-polished, and hand-bevelled surfaces, showcasing the brand’s commitment to haute horlogerie craftsmanship. Distinct finishing differentiates the two editions: the Black Hole Arabic Numerals features a black-PVD titanium movement with a uniform microblasted aesthetic, while the Rose Gold edition introduces warm gold and silver PVD accents that visually tie the movement to its precious-metal case. Both calibres deliver a 42-hour power reserve and present a technical composition that is as refined in decoration as it is advanced in engineering.
Both versions come on integrated rubber straps: the Indian-numerals edition is fitted with a white strap, while the Rose Gold model features an anthracite strap. Each reference is limited to just eight pieces, with the titanium Indian-numerals model priced at CHF 355,000 which is equivalent to AED 1,613,000 and the Rose Gold variant at CHF 410,000 which is equivalent to AED 1,863,000 approximately.
