Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The return of the Swiss-Danish brand under the direction of Kari Voutilainen and Alex Rosenberg
Founded in 1773 by Jürgen Jürgensen and later revolutionized by his son Urban, the Swiss-Danish watchmaker Urban Jürgensen has both shaped, and been shaped by, centuries of maritime, scientific, and aesthetic pursuits. From crafting marine chronometers for the Danish navy to developing groundbreaking escapements inspired by Breguet designs, the brand has left a profound mark on Danish watchmaking.
In 2021, the brand announced its acquisition by a team of investors led by watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. Now, in 2025, Urban Jürgensen re-emerges under the stewardship of Voutilainen and Alex Rosenfield, a cultural strategist intent on making fine watchmaking resonate in the modern world. Their shared vision comes to life in a new collection of three watches, one of which is the UJ-3 Perpetual.

The UJ-3 Perpetual is housed in a 39mm case, available in either 950 platinum or 5N rose gold, with a thickness of 13.9mm. It features a stepped bezel and a mix of brushed and polished finishes, while the reimagined Jürgensen teardrop lugs add a touch of elegance. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, and the caseback showcases a sapphire window framed by hand-guilloché Grain d’orge finishing. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

The dial is crafted from solid silver with a galvanic black finish. Its off-center architecture includes a calendar and small seconds at 5 o’clock, a moon phase at 8 o’clock, a date at 9 o’clock, and a month indicator at 3 o’clock. A fractional power reserve is positioned just beneath 12 o’clock. Decorative details include a circular Grain d’orge guilloché around the dial’s periphery, Clous de Paris 45° textures for the subdials, and a rare Sauté-piqué finish around the minute track. The central hands, plated in either rhodium or 5N rose gold, are shaped and polished by hand.

Powering the watch is Caliber UJ-3, a hand-wound, in-house movement designed by Kari Voutilainen in collaboration with master engineer Andreas Strehler. It features a direct double wheel escapement, an evolved interpretation of Breguet’s natural escapement, offering improved energy efficiency, stability, and reduced friction. The movement beats at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz) and delivers a 52-hour power reserve.
The timepiece is paired with a hand-stitched, ethically sourced alligator leather strap lined with soft calfskin. Depending on the case material, it is fitted with a matching 950 platinum or 5N rose gold pin buckle. The UJ-3 Perpetual joins the brand’s permanent collection and is priced at CHF 168,000, approximately AED 753,000.
