Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Khaki green carbon flanks, with no hands, and no dial
Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland. It gained early recognition for its marine chronometer watches, which were highly accurate and useful for navigation at sea. The brand offers a wide range of watches, including both traditional and avant-garde designs. Their collections include diver's watches, tourbillons, and more.
Introduced in 2001, The Freak marked a milestone as it became the world's first mechanical watch to incorporate silicon escapement wheels. This collection departed from conventional designs that lacked a dial, hands, and crown. Ulysse Nardin has continuously evolved the Freak collection, introducing new innovations and technologies over the years.
In 2019, Ulysse Nardin introduced The Freak X, a watch that features a unique and innovative design, characterized by its absence of traditional hands and dial but this time, it did have a crown. It offers a blend of avant-garde design and precision craftsmanship at a more affordable price point compared to some other high-end models.
During the Watches and Wonders Shanghai event, Ulysse Nardin introduced the Freak X OPS, with "OPS" standing for "operations." This unique timepiece features a 43 mm black DLC titanium case, bezel, and crown, along with khaki green carbon fiber sides, that was shown in the Freak X Magma in red, but is now presented in a green hue.
As it was mentioned before, the watch doesn’t feature a dial (openworked dial). However, it showcases a flying carousel housing a silicon balance wheel and escapement, which is supported by a bridge functioning as the minute hand, while the hour hand is represented by a pointer on a rotating disc situated beneath the movement mechanism, with indexes and bridges in khaki green Super-LumiNova.
The Freak X OPS is powered by the self-winding Caliber UN-230 Manufacture, a fusion of the UN-118 and the UN-250. This caliber features a flying carousel movement that rotates around its axis, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), and providing 72 hours of power reserve.

The watch is paired with a khaki green fabric strap, and a Black fabric strap crafted from a recycled fishing net, with a Hook and loop fastener. The Freak X OPS is priced at CHF 32’000, which is equivalent to AED 131,000.
