A limited edition dive watch supporting shark conservation
The independent Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has been deeply connected to the sea since its founding, when its precision marine chronometers earned the trust of navies worldwide. Although the brand introduced its first dive watch in 1964, Ulysse Nardin’s relationship with the ocean runs far deeper than timekeeping alone. The brand is actively committed to marine conservation, partnering with OCEARCH, a non-profit organization dedicated to shark research, and supporting the Shark Trust, a british charity focused on protecting the future of sharks.
Now, the brand is expanding its iconic Diver collection with the limited edition Hammerhead Shark, a diving watch dedicated to shark conservation. This model follows previous shark-themed editions, the Blue Shark, Lemon Shark, and Great White, but is named after one of the most endangered and misunderstood predators of the sea: the hammerhead shark. The watch is endorsed by shark advocate and Ulysse Nardin ambassador Mike Coots, whose personal story of survival has become central to the brand’s ocean conservation message.
The case is crafted from blue PVD-coated titanium, measuring 44mm in diameter and 14.81mm in thickness. Its rugged unidirectional bezel features a rubberised insert with a 60-minute diving scale, and crown protection comes in the form of two red lateral guards. The solid caseback, also in blue PVD-coated titanium, is engraved with a hammerhead shark motif highlighted with red accents. The watch offers water resistance up to 300 meters.
A sandblasted blue dial is intersected by a bold red and blue “X,” a recurring Ulysse Nardin motif. At 6 o’clock, a small seconds subdial includes a luminescent hand, with a seamlessly integrated date window that can be adjusted both forward and backward. A power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock is also marked with a luminescent hand.
The watch is powered by the UN-118 Manufacture Movement, an automatic calibre featuring a silicon balance spring and DIAMonSIL escapement, a surface treatment that combines silicon with synthetic diamond. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a 60-hour power reserve.
It comes with two straps: a blue rubber strap with a PVD titanium tang buckle, paired with a single titanium link engraved with the 1% for the Planet logo; and a second strap in blue and red fabric with a Velcro closure.
Limited to 300 pieces, the watch follows the tradition of previous shark-themed releases by donating 1% of annual sales to shark conservation efforts via 1% for the Planet. Funds will support the Shark Trust, an organization dedicated to the global protection of sharks. The watch is priced at CHF 11,500, approximately AED 51,200.
