A Watch that harmoniously blends silicon and art
Ulysse Nardin, the esteemed Swiss luxury watchmaker with roots tracing back to 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, has garnered a stellar reputation for its precision and innovative watch designs. The brand has consistently led the way in watchmaking innovation, particularly noteworthy for its pioneering use of Siliciu m in their timepieces that improves resistance to magnetic interferences and thermal fluctuations, a breakthrough that has positioned their watches among the world's most precise chronometers.
The Ulysse Nardin Freak Collection, renowned for its avant-garde and inventive designs, stands as an iconic series of timepieces. This collection, which originated in 2001 under the guidance of owner Rolf Schnyder and watchmaker Dr. Ludwig Oechslin, continuously pushes the boundaries of conventional watchmaking.
At the Geneva Watch Days 2023 event, Ulysse Nardin unveiled the "Blast Free Wheel Marquetry," a creation that seamlessly meld precision engineering and artistic craftsmanship. Featuring 45mm diameter faceted white gold satin-finished and polished case.
Notable among its features are the 103 inlays of luminous blue silicium marquetry, imbuing the timepiece with a modern and distinctive appeal. The openworked dial showcases a 7-day power reserve barrel at 12 o'clock, a flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock, a winding wheel at 3 o'clock, and a power reserve indicator at 4 o'clock, with power reserve measurement gauge at 8 o'clock.
The watch derives its power from the manual-winding manufacture UN-176 movement, operating at 18,000 vph. The case back of the Blast Free Wheel Marquetry features a blue silicon plate, underscoring the brand's commitment to utilizing premium materials.
