Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The young watchmaker expands his creativity with two new releases during DWW 2023
At Dubai Watch Week 2023, a remarkable new talent in watchmaking, Remy Cools, showcased his latest novelties, captivating the horological world. During our talk, we discovered his passion for watchmaking, which started at the tender age of 11. Remy frequently visited Swiss manufacturers in the Vallée de Joux, immersing himself in the intricate world of timepieces. His dedication led him to pursue a six-year study of watchmaking in France, culminating in a prestigious accolade in 2018 when he won the F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition.

After completing his studies, Remy honed his skills at the Greubel Forsey workshop, but it wasn't long before his entrepreneurial spirit and watchmaking prowess propelled him to establish his own workshop. By the age of 21, he had set up his workshop in Lake Annecy, France, and launched his first model in 2020, the 'Souscription' a series of 9 exclusive watches, marking his entry into the world of independent watchmaking.

Now, the indie watchmaker Remy Cools unveils the 'Tourbillon Atelier', featuring a brass dial available in yellow or rose gold hues. Compared to its first collection, the Tourbillon Atelier boasts a smaller case dimension, measuring 39 by 12 mm, and is enhanced with new dials, new hands, and movement, retaining the design DNA of the Tourbillon Souscription. These elements are a testament to his evolving craftsmanship and creative vision in the world of luxury horology.
Crafted from 950 platinum, the case exudes a sense of premium quality and durability. It's further enhanced with a box sapphire crystal that includes an anti-reflective coating, ensuring optimal visibility under various lighting conditions. Additionally, this timepiece boasts a water-resistance of up to 30 meters.
However the main attraction is the brass disk that is available in either yellow or pink gold color. This choice allows for a personalized touch, catering to the preferences of the collectors. The dial features an elegantly off-centered two-part dial that displays the hours and minute with hand-polished steel hands, complemented by the prominent 13mm one-minute tourbillon positioned gracefully at 6 o’clock.
Remy Cools' philosophy, deeply rooted in respect for traditional watchmaking, manifests itself in every aspect of his creations. Each component is hand-finished with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The hand-wound movement is crafted by Remy Cools, it beats at 18,000 vph and offers 55 hours of power reserve, a testament to this ethos, stands out with its sleek, minimalistic yet striking micro-blasted decoration. The enhancement in the finishing of all parts elevates the entire design, making it a visual feast.

Under the sapphire case back, the beauty of the craftsmanship becomes even more apparent. The fully visible movement captivates with its breguet bridges, and the finished ratchet. This commitment to fine workmanship ensures that every angle of the watch is a treat for the eyes, embodying Remy Cools' dedication to the art of traditional watchmaking.
The watch is a Limited edition of 36 pieces, each comes with a green or beige calfskin leather strap paired with a platinum pin buckle, at a price of EUR 159,000 which is equivalent to AED 638,000.
