Celebrating Maluma's new album with a timepiece based on the iconic Opera Godfather
Jacob & Co. is a luxury watch and jewelry brand renowned for its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship. Known for pushing the boundaries of watchmaking, the brand has gained significant recognition among celebrities, contributing to its soaring popularity. Over the years, Jacob & Co. has forged partnerships with renowned names, including iconic football figure Cristiano Ronaldo and the famous French car manufacturer Bugatti, and many others.
Now, the brand is celebrating Latin superstar Maluma's new album, titled Don Juan. The star commissioned Jacob Arabo to create two exclusive pieces: a custom timepiece and a pendant necklace, both of which Jacob personally delivered. Maluma already owns a one-of-nine Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon set with diamonds, but now he possesses an even rarer one-of-one piece.

Let's talk about the watch now, the “Don Juan.” This custom timepiece is based on the iconic Opera Godfather model. Since Jacob & Co. entered into a partnership with Paramount Pictures and acquired the rights to The Godfather movie, the brand has gained access to the name, imagery, narrative, and music from the iconic motion picture. These elements have inspired the creation of the ultimate movie tribute timepiece. The watch has a sub-dial at 12 o’clock to display the time, and is equipped with a music box that plays Nino Rota’s famous soundtrack on demand. Maluma’s piece, however, deviates from the usual nods to the movie by replacing the typical references with Maluma’s logo and signature purple accents.
The timepiece is made from a blend of black DLC grade 5 titanium and 18k rose gold, measuring 49 mm in diameter and 17.2mm in thickness. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, and the caseback features an 18K rose gold bow for time-setting.
The openworked dial combines 18-karat rose gold and purple lacquered segments. The music boxes are adorned with Maluma’s logos: a “DJ” on the piano and an “M” on the plate next to the tourbillon, and is able to play a 120-note melody inspired by ‘The Godfather’ theme, activated by a pusher positioned at the 10 o'clock. Additionally, there is a triple-axis tourbillon and Maluma’s signature crown motif is replicated in 3-D, with a miniature rose-gold crown prominently positioned at the center of the movement.
The watch is powered by the Jacob & Co. manufacture JCFM04 caliber. This intricate manual-winding movement comprises 658 components and is crafted from gold, steel, titanium, and brass. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and offers a 42-hour power reserve. This piece comes with a black alligator leather strap with purple stitches and a Titanium deployment buckle. This one of one piece is priced at USD 400,000, equivalent to AED 1,470,000.
