The flying tourbillon and skeleton design unleash the dragon legend
Roger Dubuis unveiled its latest release, the watch from the company's most famous collection, "Excalibur", which is a distinctive piece that showcases the company's superiority in presenting the tourbillon regulator in a unique way. In celebration of the Chinese New Year, which coincides with the Year of the Dragon, the Excalibur Dragon Monotourbillon watch honors the legendary features of the dragon, by depicting this creature with a mysterious artistic touch, leaving room for watch enthusiasts to interpret it and unleash their imagination. In contrast to its 2020 predecessor, which faithfully reflected the mythical form of the dragon, this new mono tourbillon takes a more contemporary and interesting approach.

Sitting on the wrist, the 42mm case of the watch has a thickness of 12.62mm and is constructed from pink gold. The screw-down crown ensures the case's water resistance of 100m, complemented by its notable notched bezel and three arched lugs. Turning the watch over reveals the same flowing dragon, metallized on the inside of the caseback's sapphire crystal, precisely mirroring the view from the front.

The skeletonized design showcases a Tourbillon regulator positioned at 7 o'clock and a prominent dragon motif in the upper right half of the dial. The hour markers are affixed to the brass flange, treated with a galvanic process in pink gold, and enhanced with black Super-LumiNova. The openworked pink gold hour and minute hands are intricately adorned with satin-brushed finishes and feature black Super-LumiNova inserts at their tips. Roger Dubuis has skilfully crafted the dragon using 27 individual pieces of brass each embellished with black lacquer on the sides and a pink gold treatment on the polished top surface. In typically inventive style, the pieces are set on 25 different levels, producing a 3D vision that is full of volume and vitality.

Roger Dubuis has seamlessly integrated the design with the authority of its Monotourbillon Caliber RD512SQ. The main plate and bridges, shot-blasted and trued-up, boast NAC or Blue CVD coating, powered by manual-winding energy. The spectacle is unequivocally assured as the cage is singularly mounted on one side, devoid of any supporting bridge that might obstruct the view. For both stability and lightness, the lower tourbillon cage is crafted from non-magnetic titanium, while the upper cage gleams in mirror-polished cobalt chrome. This lightweight carriage not only enhances stability but also contributes to an extended power reserve, providing 72 hours of autonomy when fully wound. Endorsed by the Poinçon de Genève, each component is meticulously finished and adorned by hand.

black calfskin leather strap provided with the watch can be exchanged in seconds. The strap comes with a pink gold triple-folding buckle. The Excalibur Dragon Monotoubillon is a limited edition of 28 pieces and retails for CHF 195,000 which is equivalent to 825,000 AED.
