Gerald Charles Unveils Its Most Complex Timepiece, The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar

Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

In 2025, Norqain announced its partnership with the National Hockey League, becoming the sport’s first Official Luxury Watch partner. The collaboration debuts with the Adventure Chrono 41mm NHL Limited Edition, a mechanical chronograph that channels the intensity, structure, and symbolism of ice hockey into a bold, purposeful design.

The watch is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter. The case features a brushed finish and is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminium insert. A sapphire caseback offers a view of the movement and is engraved with NHL branding alongside individual numbering. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.

The white dial features a textured surface inspired by the scratched ice of a rink after a game. The hands are bold and highly legible, treated with luminous material, and paired with applied indices that maintain clarity in low-light conditions. At 9 o’clock, the small seconds display is integrated into a face-off circle motif, complete with crossed hockey sticks. Black chronograph counters are positioned at 6 and 12 o’clock, with the NHL logo placed within the lower counter. A pulsometer scale surrounds the dial, punctuated at the 200 mark by a time-out symbol. Day and date indications are integrated at the 3 o’clock position.

Powering the watch is the calibre N17, an automatic chronograph based on the Sellita SW500 architecture. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 62 hours.

The standard configuration pairs the watch with a black rubber strap developed specifically for this edition. Notably, the strap incorporates material taken from an actual hockey puck, creating a tactile and symbolic link to the sport. A stainless steel bracelet is also available.

Production is limited to 1,917 pieces, a direct reference to the NHL’s founding year, with each watch individually numbered. Pricing is set at EUR 4,750 / AED 21,562 on the black rubber strap and EUR 4,950 / AED 22,531 on the stainless steel bracelet.
