Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

Founded in 2015 in Milan by industrial designers Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato, Unimatic has built its reputation on a design language rooted in durability. The Italian brand has never sought to reinvent the traditional tool watch but rather to refine it into its most essential form. With each release, Unimatic demonstrates that minimalism and utility can coexist beautifully through clean geometry, thoughtful materials, and bold restraint, from GMT models to advanced diving watches.

The Modello Quattro collection is one of the brand’s icons, conceived as a modern military-inspired field watch that balances strength, symmetry, and visual simplicity. The new Modello Quattro U4-BLB continues this tradition with a striking all-black aesthetic.

The watch is crafted from 316L stainless steel and measures 40 mm in diameter, 13.7 mm in thickness, and 49 mm from lug to lug. Its brushed black DLC coating enhances scratch resistance while reinforcing its stealth identity. The case features a solid monoblock fixed bezel, drilled lugs for easy strap changes, and an oversized screw-down crown protected by robust guards. A flat 2.8 mm sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating ensures clear visibility under any light, while water resistance is rated to 300 meters.

The matte black sandwich dial creates a sense of depth by revealing a lower layer of luminous Super-LumiNova BGW9 through cut-out long indexes. The glow emits a cool blue-green tone in darkness, maintaining excellent legibility. Around the edge, a luminous seconds track adds subtle visual rhythm. The hour and minute hands are finished in matte black with luminous inlays, while the seconds hand adopts a reverse lollipop style with a luminous tip. A discreet date window at 6 o’clock integrates seamlessly into the symmetrical layout.

Powering the watch is the automatic Seiko NH35A caliber, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) with a power reserve of 41 hours. It is paired with a heavy-duty black nylon NATO strap, secured by brushed black DLC stainless steel hardware.

Limited to just 99 pieces, the Unimatic Modello Quattro U4-BLB is priced at EUR 625, approximately AED 2,700.
