Introducing The New Tissot Ballade COSC Powermatic

Tissot has been instrumental in democratizing chronometer certified accuracy, once reserved for the highest tiers of watchmaking, by making it accessible to enthusiasts at more approachable price points. In 1994, the brand released the Ballade collection, embodying this philosophy with a focus on timeless design and mechanical reliability.

Three decades on, that spirit remains alive as Tissot carries its legacy forward, drawing inspiration from the past to shape the present. Relaunched in 2024 for its 30th anniversary, the Ballade opens a new chapter in 2025, now equipped with a COSC-certified movement.

The new watch is offered in two sizes, 39mm with a thickness of 10.98mm and 30mm with a thickness of 10.55mm. Both cases are crafted from stainless steel with alternating brushed and polished finishes, complemented by a fixed fluted bezel that can also be ordered with a gold PVD coating. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, while a transparent caseback reveals the movement within. Each model is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The dial features an embossed sunray motif that plays with light, adding depth to its refined character. Applied Roman numerals mark the hours, while brushed and polished hands with luminous inserts ensure readability in all conditions. A framed date window can be seen at 3 o’clock. Depending on the case size, the watches are available with silver, ice blue, dark blue, or dark green dials.

Inside the 39mm version beats the Powermatic 80, an upgraded caliber based on the ETA 2824-2. Chronometer-certified by COSC and fitted with a Nivachron balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetism, the movement runs at 21,600 vph (3Hz) and delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours. The 30mm model houses the Powermatic 48, derived from the ETA 2671 and likewise COSC-certified. It operates at the same frequency but offers a 48-hour power reserve.

Each watch is fitted with a stainless steel multi-link bracelet and quick-release spring bars. Joining the permanent collection, the models are priced at EUR 1,025 (approx. AED 4,420) for the stainless steel versions and EUR 1,095 (approx. AED 4,750) for those featuring the gold PVD bezel.
