Timex’s first venture into luxury watches, distinguished by a stunning enamel dial
Timex has long been celebrated for its accessible approach to watchmaking, creating timepieces that have adorned the wrists of generations. Now, the American brand ventures further into new territory with the launch of the Timex Atelier line, marking a new chapter that reinterprets its design heritage through a modern, premium lens.
The Atelier series continues the creative spirit introduced by Italian designer Giorgio Galli, the mind behind Timex’s most design-driven collections. While past models balanced affordability with elegance, the new Atelier collection pushes that vision further, blending minimalist architecture with mechanical sophistication. As the first release in this new era, the Atelier Marine M1a embodies Timex’s concept of luxury done its own way.
The watch is a contemporary diver built with refined proportions. Its stainless-steel case is paired with a black IP-coated midsection, creating a subtle contrast that visually lightens its profile. The case measures 41 mm in diameter and 13 mm in thickness. A screw-down crown and unidirectional rotating bezel complete its diver’s credentials, while the watch remains water resistant to 200 meters.
Beneath a double-curved sapphire crystal with triple anti-reflective coating lies a polished black enamel dial framed by a brushed silver ring. The indices and high-polished silver hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility in all conditions. A printed minute scale runs along the inner flange.
Powering the watch is the Swiss-made Catena SA100 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with a 36-hour power reserve. The watch is available in two configurations: a three-link stainless-steel bracelet with a custom deployant clasp and self-adjustable removable links for tool-free resizing, or a black NBR synthetic rubber strap with a matching stainless-steel deployant clasp.
