A fully mechanical wrist watch that generates its own lume
Panerai’s history is rooted in producing diving watches with high luminous materials (Super LumiNova) for Italy’s navy, and continuing this tradition, the brand is introducing the Submersible Elux LAB-ID PAM01800, which features a creative lighting system and is the fourth of Panerai’s LAB-ID “concept” watches. In 1966, Panerai introduced a new material named Elux, short for "elettroluminescenza" (meaning electroluminescence), which was developed to improve the luminescence of the Italian Navy's naval instruments.
The new Elux LAB-ID transforms the mechanical energy stored in its barrels into light, illuminating the dial indexes, hands, and bezel. This fully mechanical tool watch features six barrels, a system with four patents, and a 30-minute power light feature, all housed in a 49mm Blue Ti-Ceramitech case, similar to the one seen in the new Submersible Luna Rossa releases, with a thickness of 21.9mm, and 500 m of water resistance.
You can flip open the pusher protector at 8 o'clock, and you can access a button that activates the power from the four barrels, which then unwinds in a microgenerator that converts mechanical energy into electricity, lighting up the LEDs instead of traditional lume.
The black dial is covered with light-absorbing carbon nanotubes that enhance contrast when the light is activated by absorbing external light. The dial also features a linear power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock. If the 30 minutes of power are exhausted, the watch is still readable thanks to Super LumiNova X2 on the indices and hands.
The watch is powered by the P.9010/EL caliber, an automatic movement with a 3-day (72-hour) power reserve for time indication and a 30-minute on-demand Power Light function. Operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz), it features six barrels, with four dedicated to lighting and two to timekeeping. It is paired with a blue rubber strap and a titanium pin buckle.

The watch is limited to 150 pieces, with 50 pieces available per year over three years, and priced at USD 96,300, equivalent to AED 353,800.
