Introducing The New Speake Marin Ripples In Metallic Green

Over the span of a single year, SPEAKE MARIN has curated the RIPPLES collection, unveiling four exceptional models, each inheriting the distinctive allure of its forerunners. The journey commenced at Watches & Wonders 2022 with the debut of “RIPPLES Black Original”, the brand's inaugural steel watch accompanied by a matching steel bracelet. This was swiftly succeeded by the Ripples Gold Anniversary edition, a harmonious blend of steel and gold that commemorated two decades of horological excellence. In Watches & Wonders 2023, SPEAKE MARIN revealed not one, but two fresh interpretations, the elegant “RIPPLES Blue Jeans”, and the functional “RIPPLES Date”. Each innovation encapsulates a unique ambiance, showcasing SPEAKE MARIN’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship. 

As the curtains rose at Dubai Watch Week 2023, the brand unveiled its latest timepiece, the Ripples Metallic Green. This timepiece, with its striking metallic green dial, symbolizes rejuvenation and tranquility, and is destined to grace the wrists of those who seek serenity and distinction in their timekeeping instruments. Paying homage to its British heritage, the uniquely shaped new case, 'La City,' designed by Stéphane Lacroix, draws inspiration from the iconic architecture of London's famed financial hub, also known as the Square Mile.

The case is crafted from polished and brushed stainless steel, complete with an elegantly designed octagonal bezel that features smoothly rounded, beveled, and polished edges, as well as a robust screw-down crown with crown guards. The Ripples Metallic Green strikes an ideal balance between commanding presence and comfortable wearability. Its 40.30 mm diameter and slender 9.20 mm profile are a testament to thoughtful engineering, ensuring the timepiece's casual-chic elegance is suited to various wrist sizes. The watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal coated with an anti-reflective treatment, offering a clear view into the dial and the heart of the watch, revealing the intricately designed in-house movement.

The RIPPLES La City case, with its design cues taken from the architectural grandeur of London's financial epicenter, pairs seamlessly with a dial that takes its inspiration from the city's verdant Sky Garden. This timepiece encapsulates the tranquility of a secret garden set amidst the urban expanse, offering wearers an invitation to an oasis of calm. The metallic green dial, adorned with a signature "Ripples" finish, mirrors the serene ambience of this unique space where the vibrancy of urbanity and the serenity of nature converge. The base is a rhodium-plated brass plate, chosen for its reflective qualities, engraved with hand-applied satin-finish horizontal waves. These are then layered with a metallic green PVD coating, followed by a final application of transparent lacquer to seal and enhance the visual depth. 

This craftsmanship engenders a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that not only heightens the aesthetic appeal but also enhances the dial's readability. The central hour and minute hands, heart-shaped and rhodium-plated, are a subtle nod to SPEAKE MARIN's British heritage and serve as an homage to the iconic timekeepers of Big Ben. Additionally, the dial boasts a small seconds display, unconventionally positioned at 1:30, offering a distinctive visual twist.

The Ripples Metallic Green is driven by SPEAKE MARIN’s In-house SMA03-T caliber. This self-winding mechanism features a tungsten micro-rotor and is distinguished by rhodium-plated Geneva stripes, and the unique SPEAKE MARIN oscillating weight decoration. Crafted in the brand’s Swiss workshop “Le Cercle des Horlogers”, it operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz), and offers a 52-hour power reserve, ensuring sustained precision.

The watch comes with a three-link bracelet, crafted from polished and brushed stainless steel with a personalized folding clasp. The timepiece is a limited edition of only 60 pieces, and will be released on November 16, 2023. Priced at CHF 23,000, which is equivalent to AED 94,200.
