Introducing The New Richard Mille RM 65-01 McLaren W1

In 2016, Richard Mille signed an official partnership with the British car manufacturer McLaren, becoming the exclusive partner of McLaren's Formula 1 team, and continuing to push the boundaries of innovation and performance through this partnership. With a shared passion for craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology, both brands have collaborated to reach the pinnacle of innovation in their respective fields. Now, Richard Mille is unveiling the RM 65-01 McLaren W1, a timepiece inspired by McLaren's latest W1 supercar—the fastest road-legal, hybrid supercar ever produced by McLaren. 

The McLaren W1 marks a new chapter in the legendary '1' car lineage, succeeding iconic models such as the McLaren F1 and the era-defining McLaren P1. The name "W1" celebrates a milestone in McLaren's rich motorsport history, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the brand's first Formula 1 Constructors' World Championship and Emerson Fittipaldi's 1974 World Drivers' Championship victory with McLaren. Boasting a groundbreaking 1,275hp hybrid engine, the W1 is valued at USD 2.7 million, or approximately AED 9.9 million, with only 399 units set to be sold.

The RM 65-01 McLaren W1 features a case made from Carbon TPT, a composite material exclusive to Richard Mille. Composed of multiple layers of parallel carbon fiber filaments, this material offers a high level of strength and lightness. The case measures 43.84mm by 49.94mm, with a thickness of 16.19mm. Its design includes a brushed and polished grade 5 titanium bezel, topped with a second bezel in Carbon TPT—a combination that presented significant engineering challenges. After creating eight prototypes, Richard Mille perfected the machining process to achieve this intricate design, which incorporates the brand’s thinnest titanium bezel to date, measuring just 0.50mm at its thinnest point.

The skeletonized dial of the RM 65-01 McLaren W1 showcases a stunning blend of light blue, yellow, orange, and silver hues, creating a visually striking and harmonious aesthetic. It features a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock. Additional complications include a split-seconds chronograph with two center hands tipped in blue and orange, a function selector at 4:30, and a vertical date window between 11 and 10 o’clock.

The watch is powered by the RMAC4 caliber, an automatic movement that operates at 36,000 vph (5Hz) and offers a 60-hour power reserve. It comes with a black or orange rubber strap and is limited to 500 pieces, with the price available upon request.
