Two limited editions in collaboration with Germany artist Daniel Engelberg
Since its founding in 2010 by industrial designer Benoît Mintiens, Ressence has focused primarily on contemporary watchmaking. The Belgian brand is known for its radically minimalist approach, eliminating traditional hands, crowns, and even visual clutter. With innovations like the oil-filled TYPE 3, Ressence has not only challenged the conventions of mechanical watchmaking but also created an entirely new genre.
This year, Ressence unveils the TYPE 8 DE1 and TYPE 8 DE2, a limited-edition collaboration with Munich-based artist Daniel Engelberg, renowned for his hypnotic concentric artworks. These watches are part of the brand’s acclaimed “art watch” series.

Both models are based on the award-winning TYPE 8 and feature Grade 5 titanium cases with a polished finish. Measuring 42.9mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, the cases are topped with domed sapphire crystals treated with anti-reflective coating. Lightweight and comfortable on the wrist, each watch weighs just 40 grams. Time-setting and manual winding are performed via the caseback, which rotates in both directions.
The dials draw inspiration from Engelberg’s “Inside Out” series, which explores optical depth through concentric geometry. The TYPE 8 DE1 is rendered in a warm pink, while the TYPE 8 DE2 dazzles in vivid turquoise. Both dials employ the Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS 8) to display time, with hour and minute discs rotating eccentrically to create an animated, art-in-motion effect. The dial components include laser-engraved discs filled with blue Grade A Super-LumiNova, all mounted on a titanium structure with jewel bearings and inclined satellites.
Powering the watches is a customized automatic base calibre driving the ROCS 8 system. This self-winding movement beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a power reserve of 36 hours. Each model is delivered with a rubber strap that matches the dial color, pink for the DE1 and turquoise-blue-green for the DE2. A complementary blue leather strap is also included. Both straps come with a titanium ardillon buckle.

The TYPE 8 DE1 and DE2 are limited to just 40 pieces each, priced at CHF 19,000 (approximately AED 86,300).
