Introducing The New Rado Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition

Rado stepped onto the tennis court in 1985 at the Swiss Open in Gstaad, Switzerland’s oldest tennis tournament, where the brand became the official timekeeper. Over the years, the brand’s involvement has grown into a meaningful partnership with Swiss Tennis, especially in nurturing young talent.

Now, to celebrate this four-decade legacy, Rado unveils the Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition. Sized at 39mm with a thickness of 12mm, the stainless steel case strikes a perfect balance between sportiness and sophistication. Its signature rotating bezel features a plasma high-tech ceramic insert, a hallmark of Rado’s materials expertise.

Flip the watch over, and you’ll find a caseback engraved with textures representing the three major tennis surfaces, grass, clay, and hard court. It’s also individually numbered out of 1,985, a symbolic nod to the year Rado’s journey with tennis began. Water resistance is rated at an impressive 300 meters.

The dial features a striking gradient that fades from ruthenium tones to white, while bold hands and rhodium-plated indices filled with Super-LumiNova ensure excellent legibility. A playful touch comes in the form of yellow luminous markers at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, referencing tennis scoring (15, 30, 40, game), along with a yellow-tipped seconds hand.

Inside beats the Rado calibre R763, an automatic movement equipped with an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and delivers an 80-hour power reserve.

The watch is paired with a polished stainless steel bracelet featuring a comfortable rice-grain structure, and includes three NATO straps in colors matching the court types: blue (hard), green (grass), and orange (clay). Thanks to the EasyClip system, switching between straps is effortless. The Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition is limited to 1,985 pieces and priced at CHF 2,400, approximately AED 11,100.
