Introducing The New Ming 20.01 Series 3 with an Intricate Dial Made of Fused Borosilicate

A limited edition central chronograph with the iconic Agengraphe movement

In recent years, modern watchmaking has expanded beyond traditional boundaries, with brands continuing to embrace mechanical creativity while integrating advanced technologies. These innovations allow for the creation of exceptional timepieces that resonate with both collectors and enthusiasts. A perfect example is Ming, a relatively young independent brand that has made a significant impact in the world of modern horology.

Ming has captivated the watch community with its groundbreaking designs, including the world’s lightest mechanical watch, weighing just 8.8 grams. The brand also distinguishes itself with visually striking pieces that feature distinctive Arab-themed aesthetics. As part of its Special Projects Cave, Ming is taking innovation further by releasing its first watch with a fused borosilicate dial, powered by the remarkable Agenhor Agengraphe movement.

The 41.5mm x 14.2mm case is crafted from luxurious 18k 5N rose gold, complemented by a grade 5 titanium DLC-coated caseband. Ming’s iconic flying blade lugs and the polished and brushed bezel are both crafted from rose gold to complete the elegant design. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal, which reveals lumed indices and scales on its underside. Additionally, the intricate movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, offering a captivating view of the watch's inner workings.

The standout feature of this watch is its stunning borosilicate dial, a highly chemically stable material that resists extreme temperatures. Ming collaborated with Femtoprint SA, a company specializing in laser processing for glass microdevices, to create this intricate dial. The borosilicate is shaped and fused using a high-energy laser, resulting in 600 voids arranged in a radially symmetric circular pattern that vary in size both horizontally and vertically. Each of these 600 cavities glows, as they are individually hand-filled with a liquid Super-LumiNova X1 mixture using syringes. The hour indices and a minute track, along with a pulsometer scale, are coated with Super-LumiNova X1 and visible on the inner surface of the sapphire crystal. The dial also features four hands: one each for the hour and minute, and two chronograph hands for seconds and minutes.

The watch is powered by the Agenhor for MING Agengraphe Cal. 6361.M1, a central chronograph movement featuring a proprietary Agenhor coupling mechanism, regulator, and an upgraded clutch system. It is manually wound, utilizing twin skeletonized barrels with a hard winding stop, and offers an approximate 55-hour power reserve. The movement is adorned with 5N rose gold-coated bridges, finished with polished anglage, adding an extra touch of luxury to the intricate mechanics.

The watch is paired with an anthracite goat leather strap featuring an Alcantara lining, crafted by Jean Rousseau Paris. It is fitted with a 3rd generation ‘flying blade’ buckle in 5N rose gold, perfectly complementing the luxurious design. It is limited to 20 pieces and priced at CHF 43,500, equivalent to AED 186,700.
