Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
A bold collaboration that bridges generations through nostalgia
In recent years, watch brands have increasingly turned their attention to iconic characters and cultural nostalgia to create emotional connections that transcend traditional horology. From beloved comic heroes to pop culture legends, these collaborations have drawn in a new wave of collectors who appreciate watches not only as instruments of time but also as storytelling canvases. The independent brand Louis Erard, long known for its creative spirit, now steps into this cultural landscape with its first-ever pop culture partnership, the Louis Erard x Astro Boy, paying tribute to the legendary manga character created by Osamu Tezuka.
The new Astro Boy edition builds upon the foundation of the 2340 collection, Louis Erard’s first integrated-bracelet sports line and a milestone in the brand’s design evolution. The watch features a case crafted from brushed titanium, while the lugs, bezel, crown, and caseback are made of polished stainless steel. It measures 40 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of 41.5 mm and a slim profile of just 8.95 mm. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The closed caseback is engraved with Astro Boy, and the case offers a water resistance of 50 meters.
The dial is where the story truly unfolds. Instead of traditional hour markers, it presents a multi-layered scene depicting Astro Boy soaring through Metro City, created in collaboration with Tezuka Productions using original illustrations from the classic manga series. The dial is vertically satin-brushed and engraved with the city’s skyline.
Astro Boy appears in full color, surrounded by a trail of smoke, with one of his classic villains subtly emerging in the background. A raised circular rehaut with a white minute track glows blue thanks to Super-LumiNova C1, framing the composition. The rhodium-plated hands are also filled with the same luminous material for legibility in low light.
Powering the watch is the automatic Sellita SW300-1 calibre, operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offering a 56-hour power reserve. It comes with an integrated bracelet made from titanium and stainless steel, secured by a butterfly folding clasp with a spring-blade mechanism and Torx screws at the attachment points. The watch is limited to 178 pieces and priced at CHF 3,990, approximately AED 18,200.
