The New Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar

Introduced in 1999, the Twenty~4 collection was Patek Philippe’s first dedicated line of feminine timepieces. The original model featured an Art Deco-inspired manchette (cuff) design, but in 2018, the brand unveiled the Twenty~4 Automatic, which is a round-cased iteration powered by an automatic movement. This year, Patek Philippe elevates the collection further by introducing a perpetual calendar complication, marking the collection's debut in the realm of Grand Complications.
Crafted entirely in 18K rose gold, the watch features a 36mm case with a slender profile of just 9.95mm, making it sit gracefully on the wrist. The case is meticulously finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces, enhancing its refined aesthetic. Two dial options are available. The Ref. 7340/1R-001 features a silvery opaline dial with a vertical satin finish, evoking the texture of shantung silk that feature irregular texture, while the Ref. 7340/1R-010 presents an olive green sunburst dial for a more contemporary appeal.

Introducing The New Limited Edition Formex Essence "Skye" 39 mm for Scottish Watches

A timepiece with a beautiful aventurine dial inspired by the night skies of the Isle of Skye in Scotland

The 2008 global financial crisis swept through the watch industry, leaving devastation in its wake, much like it did for numerous other sectors. Among those most affected were small independent entities like Formex. However, since Raphael Granito joined the company and became the current CEO, he made the pivotal decision to shift towards direct-to-consumer online sales, rejuvenating the brand. If you are a frequent Waqt reader, you have probably come across some of our Formex articles and would have guessed that it is among our favorite small independent brands.

The Essence 39 is by far Formex's most famous and best-selling release, showcasing the brand's creativity through its diverse and stunning collection of dials. This collection features unique options such as a rose gold meteorite dial, a hand-painted fumé red dial, and a rare malachite stone dial. Now, Formex is collaborating with the Scottish Watches podcast to add a new addition to this collection with a dial inspired by the night skies of the misty Isle of Skye in Scotland, meet the Essence "Skye" 39 mm for Scottish Watches.

The watch case maintains the same dimensions as the Essence collection, measuring 39 mm in diameter and a slim 10 mm in thickness. Made of 316L stainless steel, it features Formex's patented case suspension system, which integrates four springs between the upper and lower watch case. This results in an exceptional shock absorption system, designed to protect the mechanical movement and provide comfort to the wearer. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, and the sapphire crystal caseback includes a special illustration of Dunvegan Castle, which appears when illuminated by the included ultraviolet torch. This enchanting artwork, created by Matt Webster, a talented tattoo artist and Scottish Watches podcast listener, adds a beautiful touch to this timepiece.

The dial is crafted from aventurine glass and adorned with luminous droplets that become visible under ultraviolet light, symbolizing the northern lights with a luminous display. Green lume is present from 10 to 2 o'clock, while blue lume spans from 3 to 9 o'clock. The hour and minute hands also feature blue lume in low light conditions, and there is a date window positioned at 6 o'clock.

The watch is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, which is COSC-certified and features a custom-made skeletonized rotor. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of 41 hours. The watch comes with Italian calf leather straps equipped with curved spring bars, a Quick Release function, and a carbon fiber composite folding clasp. Additionally, it includes a stainless steel bracelet with Quick Release and Micro-extension functionality. It is limited to 100 pieces and priced at AED 8,350 for the strap version or AED 8,800 for the bracelet version.
