Celebrating the chinese new year with a limited edition in ceramic
As we’ve come to expect from Hublot, the Swiss luxury watchmaker continues its tradition of celebrating significant cultural milestones in the most creative and unexpected ways. 2025 marks the beginning of another chapter in Hublot’s ongoing homage to the Chinese lunisolar calendar, with the launch of the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake. The snake holds profound significance in the Chinese zodiac, a symbol of wisdom, charm, and transformation, and Hublot has once again reimagined this iconic symbol in their signature bold and artistic style.
Since 2016, Hublot has usedits Spirit of Big Bang collection as the canvas for these celebratory limited-edition timepieces, offering reinterpretations of the zodiac animals, like the dragon, in forms that are as contemporary as they are unexpected.
The watch comes in a black tonneau-shaped ceramic case, topped with a ceramic bezel engraved to reveal a pattern of snake scales. This pattern flows seamlessly onto the black rubber strap. The case has a microblasted and polished finish and measures 42mm in diameter with a thickness of 14.1mm. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, and the caseback also features the same glass.
The dial is crafted from sapphire crystal, and offers a stunning view of the intricate inner workings of the chronograph movement. At its center, a laser-engraved gold-plated snake applique, symbolizing the Year of the Snake. The dial is further refined with three subdials, alongside a tilted date window positioned at 4:30.
Powered by the Hublot automatic skeleton chronograph calibre HUB4700, this movement is a modernized descendant of the legendary El Primero, widely regarded as the first Swiss high-frequency integrated chronograph calibre ever created. The movement operates at a frequency of 36,000 vph (5 Hz), and offers a power reserve of 50 hours.
The watch is paired with a black rubber strap featuring a distinctive snake skin texture, complementing the black ceramic case. It is secured with a black-plated titanium deployant buckle. Limited to just 88 pieces, this exclusive model is priced at CHF 31,900, equivalent to AED 133,500.
