A new special ice-blue dial edition
Founded in Lancaster, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, and now part of the Swatch Group, Hamilton has long straddled the line between American military heritage and Swiss precision. The brand is known for its dependable field watches and iconic appearances in cinema. In its latest release, Hamilton unveils a special version of the beloved Khaki Field Mechanical, available exclusively at its boutique in Zermatt, Switzerland, as a tribute to the nearby snowy Matterhorn mountain.
The watch maintains the proportions that have made the Khaki Field Mechanical so wearable. The case measures 38mm in diameter, 9.5mm in thickness, and 47mm lug-to-lug, offering a well-balanced wrist presence. It is crafted from bead-blasted stainless steel, a finish achieved by blasting tiny glass beads at high speed onto the metal surface for a matte, rugged look. The screw-down steel caseback features an engraving of the distinctive Matterhorn silhouette, and the watch offers a water resistance of 50 meters.
What truly sets this edition apart is its ice-blue dial, adorned with a frosted texture designed to evoke the glacial terrain of the Swiss Alps. Large blackened hands and Arabic numerals, all coated in Super-LumiNova, ensure high legibility, while the familiar 13–24-hour military track appears at the center.
Inside, the watch is powered by Hamilton’s H-50 caliber, a manual-winding movement based on the ETA 2801, upgraded with an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron hairspring for enhanced magnetic resistance. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz).
Completing the alpine theme is a blue and white striped NATO strap, reminiscent of the play of light and shadow on snow-covered peaks. A secondary blue NATO strap is also included, allowing wearers to switch up the look depending on the occasion. The watch is available exclusively at Hamilton’s Zermatt boutique and is priced at CHF 595, approximately AED 2,800.
