Introducing The New Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Hi-Beat SLGH027

Grand Seiko is renowned for its precision and artistry, and the brand’s deep connection to nature is at the heart of many of its most iconic designs. The Evolution 9 Collection represents a modern evolution of the brand’s timeless "Grammar of Design" philosophy that goes back to 1967. Among its most recent offerings is the SLGH027, a stunning addition to this collection that draws direct inspiration from Japan’s majestic Mount Iwate.

The watch features a case crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, a high-quality alloy known for its superior corrosion resistance. The case measures a refined 40mm in diameter and 11.7mm in thickness, offering a comfortable and balanced fit on the wrist. The case is enhanced by a mix of Zaratsu polishing and brushed surfaces, giving the piece a sophisticated, understated glow. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating protects the dial. The caseback is transparent, allowing a glimpse of the intricate movement inside, and the watch offers water resistance to 100 meters for daily wear with peace of mind.

The dial is where the SLGH027 truly stands out. A soft, ice-blue hue sets the tone, recalling the crisp, clear air surrounding Mount Iwate. The dial’s texture is a unique, radial pattern that mirrors the ridges of the mountain as seen from above, offering depth and character to the overall design. The dial also has faceted hour markers and dauphine-shaped hands with a framed date window at 3 o’clock. A blued steel seconds hand contrasts beautifully against the dial, bringing a vibrant pop of color to the dial. 

Powering the watch is the remarkable Caliber 9SA5, a high-beat automatic movement that operates at an 36,000 vph (5 Hz), and delivers 80-hours of power reserve. The watch is fitted with a multi-link bracelet made of Ever-Brilliant Steel with a three-fold clasp, which features a 18k rose gold emblem.

The watch is limited to 1,200 pieces, each piece is individually numbered on the caseback, and will be available starting in May 2025 through Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retailers, at a price of USD 10,500, which is approximately AED 38,600.
