Introducing The New Girard Perregaux Laureato 38 mm Copper Dial

The Midsize Edition of the Laureato Collection Welcomes a New Diamond-Adorned Edition

In 1975, Girard-Perregaux introduced a watch featuring what was then considered a state-of-the-art movement, aptly named the 'Quartz Chronometer'. Developed entirely in-house from its inception, including its design, the model quickly gained popularity, particularly in style-conscious Italy, one of the Maison’s key markets at the time. Watch enthusiasts in Italy began affectionately referring to the model as 'the graduate (Laureato in Italian) of the Girard-Perregaux school'. Eventually, the Maison adopted this name, which has since become familiar to countless watch aficionados.

The Laureato 38mm represents the midsize variant of the brand's iconic integrated bracelet model, currently offered solely with a copper dial or in the distinctive green associated with the Aston Martin LE. New for 2024, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm Copper Diamond Bezel edition presents a refined twist, with the bezel of the Copper model intricately carved and adorned with an assortment of diamonds in various sizes.

Remaining faithful to the iconic Laureato design, the case and integrated bracelet artfully combine various shapes to stunning effect. Housed within a slim case measuring just 10.02mm in height, the octagonal bezel is adorned with 8 sizable stones at each corner, complemented by smaller stones interspersed between them. With a total of 56 diamonds (∼0.90 ct), the facets of these diamonds beautifully play with light.

From its inception, the Laureato's design has harmonized diverse shapes to create a distinctive aesthetic. Each Laureato features an octagonal bezel resting atop a circular base, which in turn sits above an angular tonneau-shaped case. Despite its geometrically precise lines, the composition showcases a delightful interplay between polished and satin-finished surfaces.

This new mid-size timepiece showcases a copper-colored dial adorned with a Clous de Paris motif. This traditional pattern, composed of multiple pyramid-like structures, lends the dial a captivating three-dimensional effect. While the dial exhibits a copper hue from certain angles, it can also appear ochre.

Featuring Baton-type hour and minute hands complemented by matching indexes, both hands and indexes are coated with luminescent material, emitting a white glow in low light conditions. The golden central sweep seconds hand harmonizes with the copper-toned dial and corresponds to the GP logo positioned at 12 o’clock. Adjacent to the crown, an aperture displays the date in white text, situated atop a copper-toned disc that mirrors the predominant dial color.

Featuring a self-winding movement, the Caliber GP03300, this timepiece offers a glimpse of its inner workings through a transparent case-back, showcasing a wealth of intricate details. The main plate is adorned with circular graining, while various components exhibit bevelling, mirror polishing, satin finishingsnailing. The bridges are embellished with straight Côtes de Genève, and the pink gold oscillating weight is adorned with perlage. With a power reserve of at least 46 hours.

Paired with a stainless steel bracelet, this watch is priced at 19,300 CFH, which is equivalent to 81,000 AED.
