Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Adding a stunning purple dial to the Chief collection
Favre Leuba dates back to 1737, a pioneer that once played a pivotal role in Switzerland’s old method of mechanical timekeeping. After decades of dormancy, the marque returned to the spotlight in 2024 with a confident revival rooted in the design language of the 1970s. Rather than chasing trends, Favre Leuba focused on building a solid foundation, debuting its first tourbillon watch, followed by a revival of the 1970 Chrono Valjoux 23.
Now, the brand goes back to basics with a new addition to its Chief collection: the Chief Date Royal Purple. The watch features a distinctive 40mm cushion-shaped case crafted from stainless steel, measuring 10.81mm in thickness, and showcasing a sleek interplay of polished and brushed surfaces. It’s fitted with a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a sapphire exhibition caseback that reveals the movement within. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters.
The dial, finished in Royal Purple, boasts a semi-gloss sunray texture that plays dynamically with light. At its center sits Favre Leuba’s high-relief hourglass motif, complemented by rhodium-plated hands and applied indices treated with Super-LumiNova C1 X1 for optimal low-light legibility. A date window at 3 o’clock completes the dial layout, as its name suggests.
Powering the watch is the automatic FLD03 caliber, developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. Beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it offers a 68-hour power reserve. Through the exhibition caseback, you’ll see a skeletonized rotor adorned with colimaçonnage (spiral decoration) and sunburst finishing, Geneva stripes on the mainplate, and blued screws.

Buyers can choose between two strap options, a vertically brushed stainless steel bracelet with polished center links and a butterfly clasp, or a purple FKM rubber strap with a pin buckle. The Chief Date Royal Purple joins the permanent collection and is priced at CHF 2,375, (approximately AED 11,000) on the steel bracelet, and CHF 2,300 (approximately AED 10,650) with the rubber strap.
