A stunning set of rubies adorn the iconic Tourbillon watch
François-Paul Journe makes some of the most impressive watches you can lay your eyes on. This applies to all his releases, even at just 25 years old, he had already completed his first self-made pocket watch featuring a tourbillon movement, which paved the way for his most famous releases. His namesake brand was established in 1999, and takes an uncompromising approach to fine watchmaking, blending technical innovation with classical craftsmanship. As part of its participation in Watches & Wonders 2025, F.P.Journe introduced the Chronomètre Furtif, and for its second release, the brand is launching the Tourbillon Souverain Joaillerie Rubis.
The watch features a 44 mm case crafted from platinum, gleaming under the light thanks to an extraordinary setting of 93 baguette-cut rubies. These stones, the largest ever used in watchmaking, are seamlessly integrated into the case’s contours, a technical feat that required large oval rubies thick enough to be precisely recut.
The dial features an hour and minute subdial made from a slice of ruby, radiating a deep crimson intensity that complements the surrounding stones. The black dial is adorned with a Clous de Paris pattern, showcasing a vertical 30-second tourbillon at 9 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock, and deadbeat small seconds at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by Calibre 1519, a manually wound in-house movement that operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and offers an 80-hour power reserve. It comes with a black leather strap with a platinum folding clasp, adorned with 18 additional baguette-cut rubies. The price is available upon request.
