Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The perpetual calendar, simplified to set via the crown only
Independent watchmaking has long been a space where passion, technical ingenuity, and craftsmanship converge. Among its most dedicated voices is Dutch watchmaker Machiel Hulsman, a name respected by collectors and industry insiders alike. His journey from a successful career in IT Quality Management to becoming a member of the AHCI is one marked by relentless learning, and a devotion to mastering every aspect of the craft.
The latest chapter in his story is the Easy Perpetual, a watch designed to make one of horology’s most revered complications both accessible and intuitive. Perpetual calendars are traditionally known for their mechanical complexity and often finicky adjustment systems. Hulsman’s vision was to strip away that intimidation without compromising craftsmanship. The result is a perpetual calendar that can be fully set using the crown alone, both forwards and backwards, without risk of damaging the movement. It is a world-first in user-friendliness, further enhanced by another debut feature, prisms integrated into the caseband that display the day and month at a glance.

The watch is offered in white, yellow, or rose gold, measuring 39 mm in diameter and 9.5 mm in thickness. It combines brushed and polished surfaces with openworked lugs. The crown offers winding, time-setting, and calendar-adjustment positions, and the watch is fitted with sapphire crystals on both sides. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters. On the reverse, the calendar display continues, with the day, month, and leap-year indicators arranged around the movement.
The multi-level dial can be extensively customized, with a center available in sapphire crystal, meteorite, natural stone, or guilloché. An outer pointer-date ring frames the layout, while an exposed balance wheel appears to hover beneath a sapphire bridge at 6 o’clock. The hands, in Hulsman’s signature “Marie Elise” style, are heat-blued and openworked. Additional apertures show the day/night indicator on the right, along with a dedicated winding indicator on the left.
Powering the watch is an in-house, manually wound movement operating at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) with a 90-hour power reserve. The movement is adorned with haute horlogerie finishing, including Côtes de Genève, polished anglage, and circular graining. It is paired with a handmade alligator leather strap, secured by a case-matching pin buckle.
Production is limited to just 12 individually numbered pieces, plus an additional example numbered 0/12 to be auctioned for charity, making a total of only 13 in existence. The Easy Perpetual is priced at EUR 138,000, approximately AED 588,300.
