Celebrating the British magazine’s 10th anniversary
Christopher Ward is a British watch brand founded in 2004 by Mike France, Peter Ellis, and Christopher Ward. The brand distinguishes itself by offering high-quality Swiss-made timepieces at more affordable prices. Following a year of development, Christopher Ward unveiled a collaborative timepiece with the British platform Oracle Time, celebrating its 10th anniversary and presenting the Christopher Ward x Oracle Time C65 Dune Shoreline. This watch boasts a dial design influenced by the dynamic and rugged coastal landscapes of the British Isles. (All the images featured in this article are credited to OracleTime)
For those who are daily Waqt readers, you would know that earlier this week we covered the introduction of the new Christopher Ward C65 Dune GMT, a watch that expands the C65 Dune collection with a Second Time Zone. The latest limited-edition watch comes in a stainless steel case with its dimensions remaining faithful to the C65 Dune collection, sized at 38mm in diameter and 11.9mm in thickness. It boasts water resistance up to 150 meters and showcases a display case back adorned with a sapphire crystal.
Inspired by Peru's Cerro Blanco dunes, one of Oracle Time's founders found striking parallels to the rugged UK shoreline. This led to a unique matte gray dial featuring a ripple-pattern texture, evoking the ever-changing sands of dunes and tidal ripples. To maintain harmony, the date window was omitted, allowing uninterrupted ripples for a balanced dial. Crafted from brass using a hydraulic press technique, the ripple dials are then coated in gray with black text and a protective lacquer. Adding contrast, hands and markers are filled with blue Super-LumiNova BL Grade X1, reminiscent of glimpses of blue sky amidst gray clouds.
The watch is powered by the COSC chronometer certified Sellita SW200-1 caliber. Operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz), it provides a power reserve of 38 hours. Previously featured in the regular C65 Dune Automatic, the SW200-1 movement is now upgraded to the COSC-certified version, enhancing its precision. Additionally, the movement showcases the distinctive Christopher Ward twin-flag-pattern rotor. The watch is limited to 100 pieces, with priority access given to Oracle Time subscribers and members upon purchase.
The prices for the Dune Shoreline will be £995, which is equivalent to AED 4,700 with the blue 100% recycled marine plastic #tide strap, and £1,020, which is equivalent to AED 4,800 with the gray Vacona leather strap. Furthermore, £1,175 is equivalent to AED 5,600 with the Bader bracelet, and finally £1,260, equivalent to AED 6,000 with both the Bader bracelet and the Vacona leather strap.
