Introducing The New Breguet Classique Double Tourbillon 5345 Quai De l’Horloge

To mark the 223rd anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet's patenting of the tourbillon, Breguet unveils the latest version of its Classique Double Tourbillon. Originally introduced in 2006, this model has remained a cornerstone of Breguet's tourbillon offerings. The first openworked reference was released in solid platinum in 2020, followed by a similar reference featuring an ornate dragon sculpture to commemorate the Year of the Dragon in 2024.

The timepiece boasts a rose gold case with a sapphire crystal caseback, exuding both opulence and transparency. It features a fluted case band with dimensions of 46 mm in diameter and a thickness of 16.8 mm, covered with a domed sapphire crystal.

This edition features an open-worked dial that fully rotates every 12 hours, with two tourbillons at 4 and 10 o'clock. There are two mainspring barrels located on the movement plate, which, in other versions of the watch, are hidden but in this one are covered with an elaborately finished Breguet "B." Each tourbillon has its own going train, and the two movement gear trains independently make one full turn per minute. The two mechanisms are connected to a central differential regulating the rate of the watch and, via a third gear train, driving the rotation of the entire mechanism.

The rose gold rotating mainplate and the rhodium-plated gold bridge below it are both hand-engraved with a guilloché pattern, radiant flinqué, a motif visually reminiscent of regular sound waves.

The dial features Roman numerals and a minutes track on the sapphire hour-circle, which was first laser-engraved and then coated with blue varnish. The flange is engraved with 12 Roman numeral hour-markers, which are then filled with blue varnish and represent the shadow of the numerals on the chapter ring. The open-tipped Breguet hands are also in blue. This blued steel hours hand serves as the upper bridge of one of the tourbillons, while its extension is used for the second tourbillon.

This timepiece features a hand-wound mechanism, showcasing a double rotating tourbillon for precision timekeeping. The intricate craftsmanship extends to a hand-engraved depiction of an aerial view of Abraham-Louis Breguet's workshop at 39 Quai de l'Horloge. This Caliber 588N1 operates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz and boasts a substantial 60-hour power reserve, combining technical excellence with artistic mastery. The watch comes with a blue rubber strap and is priced at 2,844,000 AED.
