Celebrating a decade since the watch's debut with a five piece limited edition
Revered as the "Watchmaker of Watchmaker’s," Jaeger-LeCoultre has cultivated a legacy of innovation and excellence. The brand’s history is akin to a flourishing tree, its roots deeply embedded in tradition and its branches spreading into every corner of creativity. Whether your taste leans toward the classical, contemporary, or avant-garde, a Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece offers a timeless appeal that rarely falters. Among the maison’s collections, the Master Ultra Thin collection stands out as an ode to elegance, catering to those who favor the sophistication of dress watches. What began as a simple expression of time and date has blossomed into a platform for intricate functions and complications, including moon phases, tourbillons, and perpetual calendars.
In the highly competitive pursuit of ultra-thin watchmaking, brands have made headlines with record-breaking feats. Yet Jaeger-LeCoultre holds a distinction that remains unchallenged, a timepiece that combines the intricacy of a minute repeater and a tourbillon. Launched in 2014, the Master Ultra Thin Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon still holds the title as the thinnest, measuring a mere 7.8 mm. Now, a decade since its debut, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates this milestone with a five-piece limited edition featuring a striking midnight-blue dial.
The case is crafted from 18k white gold, it measures 41mm in diameter and features hand-polished bezel, and tapering lugs. The engineers have devised an innovative mechanism for activating the minute repeater, featuring a discreet unlocking button at 8 o’clock on the case side and a retractable push-button at 10 o’clock. Sliding the locking button causes the pusher to pop out, and pressing it activates the striking mechanism. Once engaged, the pusher retracts smoothly, maintaining the clean, elegant lines of the round case. Beyond its aesthetic refinement, this system offers a functional advantage by facilitating the case's water resistance to 30 meters.
The midnight-blue sunrayed dial pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s historic pocket watches, featuring elongated Dauphine hands, baton hour markers, and minute markers represented by white dots. Small slots around the dial reveal the platinum rotor, uniquely positioned beneath the dial rather than on the movement's lower side. The dial also showcases a flying balance wheel within a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, developed specifically for this timepiece.
The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is an automatic movement that powers the watch, featuring innovative “trebuchet” hammers instead of traditional ones. These hammers strike the crystal gong, which is directly linked to the sapphire glass, ensuring maximum sound impact. Unlike conventional minute repeaters that include a pause if no quarter hour is present, this movement eliminates the waiting period by detecting the absence of a quarter hour and chimes the minutes rapidly after the hour strikes. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and offers 42-hour power reserve.
The watch comes with a blue alligator leather strap with a small-scale alligator lining, while its price remains available upon request.
