A new watch in two hues displaying the positions of the sun and moon in the simplest way
Ochs und Junior is an independent brand renowned for its unique time displays, emphasizing simplicity in its creative design. The brand is dedicated to creating watches with a reduced number of mechanical parts. The ochs collection, the brand's most famous release, offers timepieces in various sizes, dials, and complications, all showcasing the distinctive and unique design of Ochs und Junior.
Now, the brand introduces the ochs und junior luna sole, a watch featuring a novel mechanism that uses two interconnected discs at the center to display the positions of the sun and moon in the sky, along with the corresponding illumination of the moon.
The watch features a two-part grade 5 titanium case measuring 40mm x 9mm, with the dial protected by a sapphire crystal. The case includes a screw-down crown, ensuring 100m water resistance. While the brand has used this method of displaying time before, what is new here is the sandblasted, grainy dial offered in two color variants: one with an anthracite-hue, sandblasted rhodium-plated dial with indices, date display, and sun in gray gold leaf, and the other with a sandblasted, light rhodium-colored dial with indices, date display, and sun in rose gold leaf. The center moon phase and the hands are either rhodium-plated or finished in gray or rose gold leaf.
The watch is powered by a movement designed by Ludwig Oechslin, a Swiss clockmaker and one of the founders of Ochs und Junior. This automatic movement utilizes a module composed of only six parts, based on the ETA 2892A2 movement, operating at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering a 42-hour power reserve. The new luna sole comes with a handmade Ecopell leather strap with a buckle in grade 5 titanium, at a price of CHF 6,000, equivalent to AED 25,000.
