A. Lange & Söhne Honors Its Heritage, Introducing Key Updates to One of Its Most Celebrated Models
The Lange 1 Daymatic is the self-winding counterpart to A. Lange & Söhne’s most renowned timepiece, faithfully echoing the distinctive design language of the classic Lange 1.

A. Lange & Söhne now unveils the new Lange 1 Daymatic honeygold, presented for the first time in a case crafted from the manufacture’s exclusive 750 honey gold. The warm glow of this proprietary alloy complements the brown 925-silver dial, giving the 250-piece limited edition a refined and understated character.
The date 7 December holds special significance for A. Lange & Söhne. On this day in 1845, Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the foundation for German precision watchmaking in Glashütte. It also marks the bold revival of the brand in 1990, the year of German reunification, led by Walter Lange. Now, 35 years later, on 7 December 2025, the brand launches the new Lange 1 Daymatic honeygold. First introduced in 2010, the Lange 1 Daymatic remains unmistakably a Lange 1, yet offers a fresh perspective on the iconic asymmetrical design.
The case of the Lange 1 Daymatic honeygold is defined by balanced proportions and harmonious lines. Measuring 39.5 mm in diameter and 10.4 mm in height, it sits comfortably on the wrist and slides easily beneath a shirt cuff. Subtle refinements to the lugs and bezel enhance the watch’s visual lightness.

The combination of a honey-gold case and a brown 925-silver dial gives the timepiece its distinctive and elegant aesthetic. The hands, appliqués, and outsize-date frame echo the warm sheen of the case, while the slightly recessed hour-and-minute sub-dial adds depth and emphasizes the three-dimensional architecture of the dial. The outsize date appears with white numerals on a brown background, a detail that enhances the cohesive colour palette.

In keeping with the Daymatic’s identity, the dial layout mirrors that of the original Lange 1: hours and minutes on the right, with subsidiary seconds and the outsize date on the left. Instead of the traditional power-reserve indicator, the Lange 1 Daymatic features a retrograde day-of-week display along the left periphery. This useful complication reinforces the model’s distinct position within the Lange 1 family.

The sophisticated aesthetics continue inside the case, where the self-winding calibre L021.1 beats with hallmark Lange precision. Its architecture, inspired by Saxon tradition, includes four separately screwed plates that visually form a reinterpretation of the classic three-quarter plate.

A large central rotor ensures efficient winding and consistent energy delivery. Its 21-carat gold segment, engraved with the A. Lange & Söhne signature, is paired with a centrifugal mass in 950 platinum. The interplay of warm gold, cool platinum, and cornflower-blue screws creates a striking technical tableau. The rotor’s slender spokes help absorb shocks, protecting the movement under stress. When fully wound, the calibre offers a power reserve of 50 hours.
The movement features an indexless oscillation system with a large balance wheel fitted with eccentric poising weights, paired with an in-house balance spring beating at 21,600 vph. As with all Lange movements, the 426-part calibre L021.1 is double-assembled and meticulously finished to the manufacture’s highest artisanal standards.
Traditional elements, including a hand-engraved balance cock, Glashütte ribbing, and screwed gold chatons, offer captivating details visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback. The Lange 1 Daymatic honeygold is fitted with a hand-stitched taupe alligator leather strap secured by a solid honey-gold buckle. Production is limited to 250 pieces.
