Celebrating Baltic’s debut as Official Timekeeper of the Transat Café L’Or yachting race
For years, Baltic has been known for its vintage-inspired designs that gained recognition for their distinctive mix of retro styling, fine proportions, and beautiful design. Its collections, from the chronographs to the Aquascaphe divers, are rooted in the worlds of motorsport and exploration. This year, Baltic takes its racing spirit offshore, joining the legendary Transat Café L’Or yachting race as Official Timekeeper.
Regarded as an institution in offshore racing, the Transat Café L’Or is a demanding transatlantic event that has challenged skippers for over two decades. The 17th edition begins on October 26 in Le Havre, France, where 74 crews will set sail for Martinique. To mark this milestone, Baltic supports a Class40 team led by skipper Lomano Takasi and unveils a special timepiece that captures the essence of ocean racing, the Scalegraph Transat Café L’Or Limited Edition.
The watch features a 316L stainless steel case measuring 39.5 mm in diameter, 14.1 mm in thickness, and 47 mm from lug to lug. The aluminium bezel is unique to this edition, graduated in knots over one-tenth of a nautical mile, allowing skippers to calculate average sailing speed. A double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating protects the dial. The solid caseback is engraved and individually numbered from 001 to 200, highlighting its exclusivity. Screw-down pushers ensure a water resistance rating of 100 meters.
The champagne dial features off-white azurage sub-dials with orange chronograph hands. The “Big Eye” counter at 3 o’clock is graduated in reverse over 15 minutes, allowing skippers to monitor race starts with precision. At the 9 o’clock position lies the small seconds counter. The dial also displays applied indices, luminous hands, and a discreet date window at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by the Sellita SW511 BH, a hand-wound chronograph movement developed in Switzerland. It operates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and delivers a 63-hour power reserve.

The watch is delivered with a stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet fitted with a folding clasp. An additional off-white FKM rubber strap is included, and both straps feature quick-release spring bars for easy swapping. This edition is limited to 200 numbered pieces and is priced at €1,750, approximately AED 7,472.
