Introducing Swiss Brand Mermont Debuts La Parfaite Blue

A platinum single-hand watch that launches the young brand

Independent watchmaking often speaks in a loud voice, chasing complexity, spectacle, or visual impact. Mermont takes the opposite route. This new Geneva-based name enters the scene with a watch that places its confidence elsewhere: in quality, hand-finishing, and a belief that watchmaking becomes more personal when every unnecessary element is taken away.

That approach defines La Parfaite, the brand’s first watch and the model through which Mermont sets out its identity. The idea is not to show less for the sake of novelty, but to refine the experience of reading time into something calmer and more intentional.

The new blue edition is built on that vision in a limited run of 28 pieces, following the sold-out salmon debut. It presents the same central idea through a cooler, perhaps more contemplative tone, while preserving the strong emphasis on traditional execution and discreet detail.

The case measures 38 mm in diameter and 9.2 mm in thickness, dimensions that give the watch an elegant profile on the wrist. It is crafted from platinum, a choice that immediately places the piece in a serious category. The form is distinguished by sculptural lugs inspired by the historic cornes de vache style, along with a polished concave bezel and an oversized crown that gives the silhouette a subtle old-world character without feeling nostalgic. At the back, the watch is fitted with a screwed tantalum caseback, creating an unusual material contrast against the platinum body. Water resistance is rated at 30 metres.

The dial is rendered in blue and finished in a colimaçon style that catches the light with a strong sense of movement across its curved surface. Its colour is achieved using pigments mixed with Zapon varnish in a traditional manner, giving the surface depth without making it appear glossy or overly decorative. The display is pared back to a single heat-treated steel hour hand, polished by hand and shaped with unusual volume, making it far more than a simple pointer. There are no conventional hour markers in the usual sense. Instead, the dial relies on a printed outer track divided into 10-minute segments, allowing time to be read in broader intervals.

Inside is the La Joux-Perret D101, a manual-winding movement chosen for its proven construction and ease of service. It beats at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 50 hours. Each example is assembled, finished, regulated, and serviced in Geneva by independent watchmaker Nicolas Delaloye, whose involvement gives the watch much of its technical credibility.

The watch is fitted with a Swiss-made textile strap lined with calf leather and secured by a platinum buckle. It is a limited edition of 28 pieces and will be produced in small batches and sold directly to collectors. The price is CHF 10,998, approximately AED 50,600.
