The Green Abyss watch features a moisture indicator that reflects the collection’s heritage
After a few days of teasing, Swatch has officially revealed the latest addition to its collaborative Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms line. Named Green Abyss, this striking model features a vivid green case and draws inspiration from the mysterious, shadowy depths of the world's oceans. It becomes the second model in the series to adopt this specific dial layout, following the Antarctic Ocean edition in grey.
As with the rest of the collection, the design cues are influenced by the vibrant world of nudibranchs, colorful sea creatures known for their dazzling appearances and exotic forms. One such creature, the Felimare picta, also known as the Regal Sea Goddess, is known for gracing the ocean floor with its vibrant colors and elegant form.
Like all previous editions, this new Blancpain x Swatch watch pays homage to Blancpain’s legendary Fifty Fathoms. The case and crown are crafted from Swatch’s proprietary Bioceramic material, finished here in green, with the word “Swatch” engraved on the left side of the case. The dimensions remain consistent with prior releases 42.3 mm in diameter and 14.4 mm in thickness.
The unidirectional rotating black Bioceramic bezel and the biosourced glass are both treated with an anti-scratch coating for enhanced durability. The dial, presented in a matte green tone, features printed hour indices instead of the traditional Fifty Fathoms numerals at the cardinal points. The hour markers, hands, and bezel scale are coated in a beige Grade A Super-LumiNova, offering a warm, vintage-inspired glow.
Branding remains bold and unmistakable, with both Blancpain and Swatch logos occupying the 12 o’clock position. Meanwhile, the lower half of the dial is home to a bi-coloured moisture indicator—a signature element nodding to the model’s historical roots.
Powering the watch is Swatch’s innovative SISTEM51 mechanical movement, visible through the transparent sapphire caseback. The back features a digitally printed illustration of the ocean floor alongside the Felimare picta nudibranch. Five inspirational inscriptions—PASSION FOR DIVING, LICENCE TO EXPLORE, OCEAN BREATH, PROTECT WHAT YOU LOVE, and IMMERSE YOURSELF—adorn the caseback.
The movement, comprised of only 51 components and secured by a single central screw, delivers an impressive 90-hour power reserve and features a Nivachron anti-magnetic hairspring for improved reliability.
The watch is paired with a two-piece green NATO strap, accented by beige and black stripes that complement the overall aesthetic. The pin buckle and loops are also crafted from Bioceramic. This new release is priced at $400 USD, approximately AED 1,400.
