A limited edition celebrating 60 years of the Japanese brand’s first dive watches
Seiko has unveiled its latest addition to the Prospex GMT lineup. Based on the groundbreaking 1968 Professional Diver’s 300m watch, the brand continues to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its dive watch collection with several reinterpretations of this historic model. Following the official anniversary limited edition with a white dial, Seiko now completes the trilogy with a boutique-exclusive version, the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT “Seashadow” Black Boutique Edition.
The new Prospex GMT retains the same design language as other models within the collection, which first launched in 2023. It features a hard-coated stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter, 48.6mm lug-to-lug, and 12.9mm in thickness. As part of Seiko’s modern lineup, the watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal and a unidirectional rotating 60-minute bezel with a ceramic insert.
Staying true to its tool-watch character, the GMT Seashadow is fitted with a screw-down crown and a solid screw-in caseback, ensuring a water resistance of 300 meters.
What distinguishes the “Seashadow” Black Boutique Edition is the bi-color plating on the bezel’s grip, lending the watch a subtly luxurious aesthetic. The name Seashadow refers to the visual effect of objects and creatures appearing completely black in the dim depths of the ocean — a theme that carries through to the dial.
Drawing inspiration from the original 6215 and 6159 divers, the Seashadow features a black glossy dial adorned with gold-tone accents. This elegant finishing extends to the applied indices, hour and minute hands, and the outer bezel markings, creating a cohesive and refined appearance. For contrast and improved legibility, the gray 24-hour hand stands out against the dark backdrop, pointing to the 24-hour scale around the dial’s periphery, a key element of the GMT function.

Powering the watch is Seiko’s caliber 6R54 automatic movement, offering a power reserve of 72 hours and operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (vph). It delivers an accuracy of +25/-15 seconds per day and includes features such as hacking seconds, manual winding, a quick-set date, and an independently adjustable 24-hour hand.
Notably, this is the first model in the series to feature Seiko’s new quick-setting micro-adjustable clasp extension, ensuring optimal comfort on the wrist. The stainless steel bracelet comes with a three-fold clasp featuring a secure lock, push-button release, and a tool-less micro-adjustable diver’s extension.
The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT “Seashadow” Black Boutique Edition is limited to 500 individually numbered pieces, priced at EUR 1,900 (approximately AED 8,100). It will be available exclusively through Seiko’s London Bond Street boutique.
